{I'm publishing this post late tonight, but I really need to get caught up with blogging! }
Plus, we had such a fabulous weekend, that I wanted to share all of the details before they slowly wore off!
I was off last Wednesday through Friday, but I kept the girls in preschool for the week. I wanted to have a week to get things done and to have to myself. DJ was able to take them to preschool in the mornings and then I picked them up in the afternoons. Here they are last Friday on their very last day of preschool for the summer.
I made G wear the same shirt she wore on her first day, but I couldn't find Megan's so I just put her in an apple and pear dress from Puddin' Pies.
After picking the girls up we came home and relaxed for a while. For the third day in a row, I was unmotivated to cook dinner, so DJ picked up KFC.
G was suppose to have a sleepover with friends from school, but the weather looked as if it would turn bad and there was a huge threat for tornadoes so I cancelled the sleepover. I felt sort of silly, but after the tornado in Moore, and the weathermen continuing to tell everyone how unstable the atmosphere was and that there was a high potential for tornadoes, I wanted her to be with us in case anything happened.
When DJ got home, I was really freaking out about the storms. So, we loaded the girls up and headed to the football office.
We have an interior closet in our house and we'll use it in case anything pops up unexpectedly, but if we have time to prepare, we're going to head to the football offices because of it's basement.
So, I packed pj's, diapers, and a change of clothes, and we put the girls in the car. We ended up eating the dinner that DJ brought at the offices, and then let the girls run around for a bit while we watched the weather.
A tornado did hit OKC, but it was a slow moving storm!
After getting MC to sleep and laying G down on the floor with towels to use as blankets, we decided around 10:30 that the weather wouldn't hit Tulsa and that it would be safe to go home.
Since I cancelled G's sleepover, she had a play date with her friends Saturday morning. We slept in a little bit, and around 8:30, I was able to get both girls in the car to drop G off at her friends house.
I decided to take MC out for a donut breakfast. Then she and I came home and picked up the house. MC is such a good helper when it comes to house cleaning! She helped take the laundry to the laundry room and helped make my bed. And, I forgot how easy it was to take care of just one child!
I got her dressed and we went to Target before heading to pick up G.
MC napped that afternoon and I let G watch t.v. and rest. I ended up taking a nap too and afterwards we read books. G decided that it was opposite day and that she wanted breakfast for dinner. Because I was once again unmotivated to cook, I agreed and made the girls cinnamon rolls, strawberries, and cereal.
Afterwards, I put the girls in my bathtub and gave them a bath, and then I took a shower while they played.... best idea ever!
Then, we had beauty salon and watched Angelina Ballerina.
Both girls had their toes and fingers painted. I used a pedi brush on my own feet and MC decided I needed help. Then, MC brushed G's hair while she watched her movie.
They finally both wore out and layed still for a while watching Angelina Ballerina before bedtime.
DJ had high school football camp all weekend, so I took the girls to church by myself. I tried to get a picture of them together, but Megan absolutely refused. Then, she wouldn't stand still while I took her picture, so this is the best I got:
After church, we picked up G's friend Leigha and let her come to our house to play for the afternoon. Leigha's sister just had surgery and I thought it would be a good break for her mom if Leigha came to play. We got home and I fixed the girls lunch, but they didn't eat much because they wanted to play. I figured that MC would take her usual Sunday afternoon nap, but she threw a fit and refused, so I got her back up and we all went outside to play with sidewalk chalk paint.
The girls ate popsicles and I cleaned them up and they went upstairs to play while I made homemade mac & cheese and brownies for a neighbor cookout.
MC did finally take about an hour nap after Leigha left, but we had to wake her up in time for the cookout.
Our neighbors decided to smoke brisket and we all brought side dishes to share and hung out in their backyard. The food was amazing (sad that DJ missed it) and the kids had so much fun playing!
MC decided to 'nap'.
And, here's G when she walked over to tattle on a friend.....
We didn't get home until after 8:30, and I was getting the girls pjs on and realized how filthy they were so I put them both in the tub again and gave them another bath.
They were finally tucked in by 9:15 and I realized that summer's here. There's going to be lots of play dates, playing outside and getting dirty, and late nights!
And, I couldn't be more thrilled!
