Just Some Randoms

I'm way behind on blogging, so I'm doing a little catch up!

I was home with Meggie and Addy on Gretchen's second week of kindergarten... this was the last week of August. Addy turned 8 weeks old, and she's becoming a little more alert after she eats. Before we had to pick G up from school, Addy had a little tummy time and Meggie wanted to play with her.

Meggie brought out her light up singing lantern and was showing Addy how to play with it.

Such a sweet mommy Meggie is.

I told Meggie to lay down beside Addy so I could get a picture, and this is what happened:
Much better.
That Saturday, DJ was home almost all day, and I did tons of sewing!

Saturday night, Addy helped me ship packages.
We took the girls to church on Sunday.
Addy was a happy girl that afternoon.

I love catching her smiles!
That afternoon, I did more re-decorating, and I rearranged my dining room.
And Sunday night I made homemade pizza. It was delicious.
Thanks for letting me play catch up!

It Was Game Day

The girls and I started our day by dropping Gretchen off at kindergarten. I think we're finally getting into that routine fairly well. After dropping her off, we met our neighbor and her girls at the pool. I have been dying to go for weeks, but I was nervous about getting Adalyn out in the heat and taking the girls by myself. Today was perfect; we went around 10, and it was still fairly decent temperature wise. I dressed Adalyn in her swimsuit, and put her under an umbrella with her carseat shade up, and I was surprised that she slept the entire time- only waking up once to eat.
That gave Meggie and I some play time and me time to talk to a grown up! Yay!
We stayed until noon, and then came home for pb&j sandwiches and naps.

I tried to work on some bow & sewing projects upstairs, but once again, Addy started crying off and on and rather than me running up and down the stairs, I just brought my supplies downstairs and worked away while sitting at the bar.

She woke up a little after 2, and I fed her and we cuddled for a bit.
She's getting so big! This week i'll have her 2 month update posted!
After naps, we went to sit in the car rider lane again to pick Gretchen up from kindergarten. The girls did so good! I managed to start a longer DVD for Megan and gave her goldfish rather than fruit snacks and made sure she had her dede's and a drink. She was a happy camper.

We came home and I let the girls watch t.v. while I put Addy down for another nap and then I worked on bows a bit longer.

I looked over at G and saw her watching Bubble Guppies looking like this:
I mean, when did she get to look so big?!

Leave it up to Megan though to get into mischief. She found a pair of shorts in my dresser drawer and decided to play dress up.
I cooked dinner for the girls, mac & cheese, at Gretchen's request, and then we settled in to watch the TU vs. BGSU game.

Gretchen was so excited to watch our team on t.v. and to try to find daddy on t.v. (he rarely is). She cheered on the team for about 5 minutes screaming and yelling, and I started to explain offense and defense to her, then we popped popcorn and the girls watched the game for a while.
They eventually grew tired of the game, who can blame then, and they cuddled on the couch reading books. I looked over and saw them reading a book together.
As soon as I got the big girls to bed, Adalyn woke up and she stayed awake through the 3rd quarter of the game. She was obviously not happy with the outcome of her first TU game.
So, it was our first loss of the season. Big bummer. But, there's no where to go but up from here. and i'm so glad that our next game is at home. Although, as i'm typing this, I'm having a mini panic attack about taking all three girls to a game by myself!

Oh well, looking forward to the season, and all the craziness that goes along with it!

We're Making It!

This week is Gretchen's first full week of kindergarten! We're all working on getting back to our normal school year routine, and i'm happy to report that we are making it!

Monday morning, I woke up around 7 and started getting dressed. I was smart enough to take a shower the night before, so I just had to fix my hair and put on make up and proper clothing. Sunday evening we had set out all of Gretchen's clothes for the week, and she woke me up bright and early around 6:45 (I continued to doze until 7) already dressed! She was super excited to go back to school!

I managed to get all of the girls dressed in matching pinks and oranges. And, we got Gretchen to school on time!
After we dropped G off, we headed to the football office.

DJ decided that he would not shave during football camp this year. A few other staff members joined him, and when he arrived at work Monday morning, he discovered they had all already shaved off their beards. He texted me and asked me to bring him his razor and shaving gel!

I had to take a before picture:
Megan and I went up to his office to hang out for a few minutes, and she enjoyed a doughnut.

DJ has his students bring doughnuts in for the other video students if one of them is late. Apparently, one had been late, so he had to bring doughnuts. Megan and I enjoyed them.
After football, Meggie, Addy, and I headed to Target, then home for lunch and naps and then we went to pick Gretchen up from school.

Part of me enjoys sitting in the car riders lane waiting for Gretchen. I get so excited to see her and hear about her day.... that is, unless the other two are screaming in the backseat of the car.

I cooked dinner Monday night, gave the girls baths, and then went on another walk once DJ got home.

After my walk, I did my Bible study, and snuggled with this girl.
Tuesday was fairly uneventful. We took G to school and then came home to wait on the cable guy to arrive.

I spent the morning cuddling these two girls.
After lunch the girls took naps.
I put Adalyn in her crib for the very first time for her afternoon nap. I thought she was sound asleep, so I decided to go upstairs and complete a shirt order. I stopped about halfway through, and discovered that she was screaming her poor little head off!

I finally got her calmed down and then it was time to get Gretchen from school.
Like I said earlier, the car rider lane can be a favorite time of day for me, unless the above is happening.

For some reason, Meggie was in a horrible mood despite me giving her snacks and having her watch a movie. Addy cried too, but only because she hates to be in her carseat if its not moving.

Gretchen informed me that she told her teacher she had not had breakfast Tuesday morning, so her teacher let her go to the cafeteria to get food, despite the fact that she had breakfast and had no money in her lunch account. She said, "mom, you don't even have to have money, you just tell them your name!" Pretty sure i'll be getting a bill for the breakfast.

We eventually made it home and relaxed in front of the t.v. and I cooked dinner. Addy fell asleep with me wearing her, and I put her in her crib again, and this nap was so much better!

The girls didn't get baths Tuesday night, so we watched t.v. for a while. DJ came home and took over again, and I went on another walk with my neighbors.

DJ got to hang out with this little girl:
Totally melts my heart to see him holding his baby girl.
Once again Wednesday morning, was the same routine of waking up and taking Gretchen to school.

We came home from dropping her off and spent the morning with the cable man... again. The t.v. wasn't fixed yesterday, so he was here for 2 /12 hours trying to fix it again. After he was finally finished, Meggie, Addy, and I went to football to take something to DJ that he had forgotten and so I could sign a piece of paper for our house closing.

Afterwards, I took the girls to Chick-Fil-A for lunch and then we went to Hobby Lobby.

Neither of the girls got much of a nap, so once again, they were fussy in the car rider lane.

DJ's out of town for our first football game of the season, so I took the girls to McDonald's for some ice cream. We came home and relaxed before dinner, I picked up the house, and all of the girls got baths and were in the bed by 8. I was pretty proud of myself!

And, then I realized, the kitchen still needed to be cleaned. Great.

Generations of Love

Last week when Gretchen started kindergarten, my mom and grandma came to stay with Megan and Adalyn so DJ and I could concentrate on taking Gretchen to school.

I'm so thankful for these two ladies. They are pretty much responsible for the person that I am today, and I for one think they've done a great job!
I know they will always be there for my girls as well. They prove it time and time again.
Adalyn is my grandmother's 7th great-grandchild.
Here's Gretchen on her second day of kindergarten.

She's wearing a Lolly Wolly Doodle skirt, turquoise sequin Toms, a purple shirt embroidered with "Kindergarten Princess" (which my mom and I made), a Sofia the First hair bow, and Sofia the first necklace.
Megan wanted to have her picture taken too!

I'm so thankful for all these generations- love each and every one of them!

A Night on the Farm

We were invited to a birthday party on Saturday night, and since DJ had football practice, I loaded up the girls and we went. I'm so glad that we did because the girls had so much fun, and it was good to catch up with friends and make new ones.

I love birthday parties, because it really helps me to get out, the girls to play, and to meet new people, which is so hard for me to do since we've moved so often!

The party was held on a little horse farm. There was a table set up with carrots and apples for the kids to feed the horses.

There were also horse rides. Gretchen hopped right on the horse like she was a pro, and a new little friend rode with her.

Megan was super excited about riding the horse too, but when the man went to put her on, she screamed bloody murder. Part of me isn't surprised because she does have a little timidness in her, but she was so excited and kept wanting it to be her turn, that i'm a little shocked that she didn't ride.

She had fun running and climbing instead.
It was such a fun night for the girls!

Happy Birthday SK!

What a Week!

Last week was full of happy chaotic madness. What wonderful memories were made, but boy was I exhausted. Every single day.

Tuesday Gretchen had kindergarten assessments, so I woke up early to get dressed, and to make sure we were all ready and on time.
We walked in the door right on time at 10:40.

Afterwards, we had to run to Target to get milk and pick up a few birthday presents. Poor Addy hates her carseat, especially if the car is not moving, but I thought our trip in wouldn't take too long, so I left her in the carseat and put it in the buggy.

I was wrong. She cried the entire time. I looked up, and Meggie had turned around in her buckle, put the paci back in Addy's mouth, and was rocking her carseat back and forth. She's such a good little helper.
Too bad it didn't work.

Tuesday afternoon Gretchen and I spent nap time curled up on the couch watching a movie.

I was watching a recorded "Cool Pools" on HGTV and Gretchen decided to make her own pool out of crayons.

This is what my living room floor looked like:
Megan and I ended up cleaning up the crayon mess because Gretchen through a fit, therefore she lost all coloring privilege for the next two weeks at home.
I put Addy in the bouncy seat and she was actually happy for more than 5 minutes! I had to take a picture to record this first. However, she began fussing right after the picture was taken and posted to Instagram. Thanks for making me a liar Adalyn.
Megan wanted her picture made with Adalyn (again.)

Addy is beginning to have her first smiles! She smiled around 6 weeks, and I wasn't sure if it was a real smile or a gas smile, but these are real people!

She has a tiny crooked little smile where the right side of her mouth curls up, but the left side stays straight.

My mom and grandma showed up Wednesday afternoon. After Megan's nap time, we went for ice cream, came home to play outside, ate dinner, bathed the girls, and I fixed Gretchen's lunch for the very first time:
I had to leave her a little lunch box note :)
Thursday morning was Gretchen's first day of school!

On Friday, DJ was able to take Gretchen to school. I was thankful that I didn't have to get up and get dressed right away, and could sleep in a little bit, but I decided that being home with two girls is much busier and crazier than being home with all three girls!
I had Megan dressed, but I swear she took her clothes off at least 5 times. I think her daycare is going to hate me in a few weeks. I can just see Megan taking her clothes off in front of her entire class, or on the playground, or in the hallway. That's what happens when we're home all summer. Sorry!

She enjoys bouncing in Addy's seat.... at least someone does.
Addy had spent the first part of the week sleeping happily in her swing, but she was not having it Friday. I think her Gee and great-grandma spoiled her Wednesday and Thursday!

I showered through her screaming, and was finally able to finish getting dressed after Megan went down for her nap.

I had about an hour and I worked on a few hair pieces, that i'll share with you later this week!

Then, I had to wake up this sleeping baby to change her and feed her, so we could pick Gretchen up from her 2nd day of kindergarten.
While we were in the carpool lane, I turned on a Veggie Tale DVD and gave Meggie a box of raisins and fruit snacks to attempt to occupy her. She brought Doc and her blankie along with her.
When we came home, I cuddled with Addy to get her to sleep. I think she was tired because she cried the entire time we were in the car.
Gretchen said she had another great day, and she said she even had homework. She finished tracing her alphabet, and then went upstairs to her room to play.
I set nothing out for dinner, and since DJ's not home to eat with us right now, the girls and I decided that pancakes sounded delicious!

After dinner we settled in to watch "Up" and then I tucked the girls into bed and worked on solid color boutique bows.

What a perfect way to end the week.
