A Welte Family Christmas: Part 1

I have a lot of blog posting to catch up on! The middle of December was crazy busy wrapping up work, buying last minute presents, celebrating our anniversary, and so much more! I'll be blogging over the next several days about our holiday festivities and then i'll be ringing in the New Year with lots of fun posts planned! I really hope you will sit and stay a while!

A few weekends ago, DJ and I decided to take the girls to see Frozen. I took this picture before we left the house. It was the first time taking all three girls to the theatre! I had planned to take them on a snow day, but then I talked myself out of it, and i'm glad I did! I had to hold Adalyn in the carrier the entire time, and it's difficult to hold her and keep Meggie still. Then, Addy got fussy at one point and I took her out for a bit.
Frozen was so good! Tangled is my favorite Disney movie, and I do think that Frozen tops Tangled.
The next day, we found that Megan had colored on herself with magic marker. Apparently, she decided she needed "socks".
It was "warm" that day, so we took the girls out for bike riding. I know that Gretchen rode her bike for a while, but I guess I don't have any of those pictures. I know I took Meggie's picture, because of how hilarious she looked in Gretchen's hat, her nightgown, and her shoes.
The week went by and Friday rolled around. I had the most busy work week, and I was looking forward to trying to attend the girls Christmas events, but thanks to last minute meetings and re-scheduling of meetings, I wasn't able to attend anything.

Thankfully, DJ had the day off and he stepped in for me!
Gretchen's kindergarten class sang Christmas songs at their morning assembly.

This is Gretchen and her "boyfriend." I love how happy she is holding him! She talks about him every day and they play together at recess and sit at the same table in class. She's talked about having a sleep over with him, but I quickly told her that it is not an option!
Gretchen and her teacher.

After, Gretchen's performance, DJ went home to put our dinner in the crock pot, and then he went to Megan's class party.

Her daycare has a book exchange every year.

Daddy and Meggie.

DJ had to miss Gretchen's class party, but I had a sweet friend send me one picture on Facebook of Gretchen celebrating.

Once we all arrived home Friday evening, we had dinner and then got our pj's on to look at Christmas lights.
We drove through a neighborhood and the girls would yell, "Look at daddy's window!" "Look at mommy's window!" Then Meggie would yell, "Look out my window!"

Then we went to a church here in town that has a light display.
You can walk through the display, but we decided not to since it was freezing rain outside. Instead, we drove through one more neighborhood and came home to put the girls in bed.
Addy Pearl passed out!

Tid bits & Randoms of Last Week

I feel so bad that I'm now doing weekly catch up posts rather than daily catch up posts! We are finally in a routine and schedule and so far, it's working out fairly well. I think Gretchen is well adjusted to the school routine, as is Megan, and Addy is still getting use to things, but it's hard when she's at daycare every other day.

Last Monday was the first day that I actually met most of my speech kiddos and started therapy. I think it's going to be a great year!

Monday afternoon, I picked up all of the girls, and as soon as we get home, I sit down to feed Adalyn. Megan crawled up in my lap too, and was extra cuddly Monday afternoon. She was also extra whiny because she has had a cold and over the weekend had run about a 99 degree temp. Nothing big, but enough to make her feel bad.
I didn't feel like cooking Monday night, and Gretchen wanted hot dogs. I decided that since it was such a nice fall day, we'd have chili dogs. I'm not ashamed to admit that I opened up a can of chili that had been in my pantry for seriously too long, and made myself a chili dog.
And, it was dang good.

I kept Megan and Addy home on Tuesday. I usually go to Bible study Tuesday morning, but since Megan wasn't feeling good Monday night, I decided to keep her home with me. I realized that afternoon, I should've just sent her to daycare. She would have been fine. Man she was whiny all day long.

Megan and Addy had school pictures a few weeks ago, and we received the proofs to order pictures from:

I'm pretty sure we won't be ordering any.

Thankfully, we had pictures taken over the summer, by the so talented Madison Vining of Madison Vining Photography. so I don't feel bad about not buying these. They're hysterical and I'll keep the proofs just to show Megan what her personality was at age 2. I'm now debating even ordering pictures of Gretchen when her school pictures are taken later this week.

Wednesday night, Gretchen had children's choir. Megan was able to play on the playground before we headed home and we let G stay for Wednesday Night Live and DJ picked her up. She's been begging to stay for WNL, and finally on a night where it was a little more convenient, they chose to let the big kids play outside and have sno cones rather than hold worship. G was in Heaven. I think we'll have to let her stay again on a worship night!

Meggie climbed this, and for the record, G didn't climb one until she was 3. Megan's my little monkey climber.

Thursday was TU's home game against Iowa State. I won't even go into details about the game #didnotturnoutwell #welost. But, G wore her "Tulsa Girl" dress and bow that I made her and her chunky necklace from LG's Necklaces (you can find them on facebook).
She also wore her pink Nike's. Bless her.

She later said, "Did you get my Nike's in the picture mom?" "No, hun, I did not." "Well, thanks because if you put it online, people would laugh at me since I don't match."

#shehasthatright

I kind of regret buying her pink nikes, because that's all she wants to wear. Have I mentioned she wears dresses or skirts almost every day?

Nikes and dresses just don't go together.

Stay tuned for Friday's re-cap with my weekend wrap up posts! It was a great one!

Meggie's First Day of PreSchool

Last Tuesday was Megan's first day of going back to school. I decided to keep her home over the summer since I would be home and I wanted to spend as much time with the girls as I could (what was I thinking?!- LOL!) I was also able to keep her home for an additional two weeks and not start her until the first of September. Her preschool starts the same time that the public schools start, but I'm thankful she stayed home with me for the additional two weeks.
I was really nervous about her going back. Because of her shy and timid personality, I wasn't sure if we'd have an easy transition back to school.

We went to her open house several weeks ago and saw her teacher and her classroom, but she kept asking for Miss Juju, her teacher last year. Even on the way to school Tuesday morning she would say, "I want my Juju."

I managed to get her backpack packed of cloth diapers for the week, and two changes of clothes in case she had accidents, along with her pillow pet and blanket, and we took her dede bunny on the first day.

I planned to get up earlier than I had been so I'd have time to take her first day of school pictures.
After a few, she was ready to get in the car and go.
We dropped Gretchen off at kindergarten, and then headed to preschool.

Meggie walked right in like a champ, after stopping to get a drink at the water fountain.
She walked right into her class, and to one of the centers, and then she found the vacuum and started to vacuum the floor. I managed to get all of her things put away, and went over to tell her bye and give her a kiss, and that's when she started to cry a bit.

Her teacher took her and they went to the table where her friends were sitting (they had been reading a book) and by the time I walked out the door, Meggie was happy.

Her teacher said she had a great day! She took a two hour nap and rather than sleeping with her Dede bunny, she slept with a baby doll. #typicalMeggie

That day, Addy and I ran tons of errands.
#selfie

I washed my face with coconut oil and didn't get it washed off well enough, so my bangs felt greasy all day. #IswearIwashedmyhair.

Addy and I were home for an hour before we had to go pick up the girls. Poor thing had just fallen asleep when it was time to go.
That evening, my house looked like this.
And, both of the girls were dancing.
Wednesday was Meggie's 2nd day of preschool. G picked out her heart dress, and since Meggie has the same one, I decided to dress them alike. Pigtails, sparkly Toms, and all.

Giving each other hugs before school.

Thankfully, Addy and I stayed home all day Tuesday, but I was busy cleaning out and reorganizing toys! Meggie had another great day, and when it was time to go she said, "Bye friends, bye Harper."

MC's Preschool Program

Megan's class decided to hold their end of year program on a different day than the three and four year olds graduation program. It worked out better for her school to not have so many children in a performance at one time.

Her program was last Thursday at 4:00 and DJ and I were both able to make it.

Their classroom teachers surprised everyone with t-shirts for the kids to wear. MC's class shirt said "Caterpillar Court Alumni" her shirt also had her name on the back.
Here's MC walking to the "stage" with a little friend.
I think she was completely terrified by all of the people. She would not move from this spot the entire time!
She didn't sing or do any of the motions. Their class had two songs- "If You're Happy & You Know It" and "Jesus Loves Me".
After the program we had cookies and fruit and watched a slideshow of the year.
Here's MC and her teacher, Ms. Julie. Ms. Julie has been so good for MC and we are going to miss her so much! I really wish we could keep Julie next year!

G's Pre-K Graduation

Last week, Gretchen had her preschool graduation. I was so good and only teared up one time! MC had been sick the day before and fussy that day, so she was really clingy and wanted nothing to do with her daddy. I think that it helped that I was distracted by keeping MC happy and trying to stay in her seat, that I didn't have time for many emotions to set in.
Here's G before we left the house.

And, several of the girls in her class. These girls have become such good friends in the past two years!
Gretchen with her friends Amelia and Julia. G loves these girls, and has been in the same class as Amelia for the past two years. They've had sleep overs and went to see Angelina Ballerina together and Amelia insists that she must give Gretchen a hug every single day.
I tried to get a good picture of G and Ms. Neva, but G was not cooperating! She was upset because we wouldn't let the little girls run around the gym since they were all dressed so pretty!

When the program started the three year olds sang first, then the other two preschool teachers announced their 'graduates' and then it was Gretchen's class turn.
Here's Ms. Neva announcing her graduates.
On the screen, they displayed a baby picture and their graduation picture. This is where I teared up, because they were also playing the graduation march song, and I flashed forward 13 years from now to high school graduation.

DJ was able to video the entire graduation ceremony. You can watch it here.
It was so funny, because G was the very last graduate to walk down the aisle, and she decided to hold her dress out just like a princess would!
Then the four-five year olds sang songs.

We were able to take a family picture afterwards.
And, get a picture with G and daddy.
And, i'm not sure how I managed to get these in action above, but it was kind of fun, so I thought I'd share here! We tried to take one good picture, and then DJ asked G for a kiss, and instead she leaned forward and blew a kiss- silly girl.
Here's G and I after graduation.
Poor MC was so tired- it was way past her bedtime and she didn't feel good.
G tried to give MC a hug, and MC just cried and ran away!
