Phone Pics!

Today's post is full of random iphone pictures and random stories- enjoy!

May 26th.... we enjoyed the sunshine on Memorial day weekend. DJ's mom was in town, and that afternoon MC took a nap. DJ decided to smoke ribs while I enjoyed some sunshine and G enjoyed playing. G decided that she would make us have a tea party and she set everything up. She pulled her picnic table over to Meggie's new princess patio set, and brought her two tea sets out. She also used DJ's bungee cords to join the chairs together (I'm not sure why she had this idea) and she brought out flowers left over from Megan's party. Then, she brought everyone a piece of candy to enjoy with their tea! It was just too sweet.

This may have been Monday, Memorial day.... we really party hard for Memorial day- ha! We stayed in pj's pretty much all day! I did some sewing and picked up the house a bit, but we had a really lazy day.

On Wednesday, I got my hair cut. I so desperately needed one and hadn't cut my hair since November! Seriously, y'all. Pathetic. I have decided that I really want to color my hair since it's so dark, and i'd love more of a honey, caramel color, but i'm also waiting until I find my first gray hair, which i'm convinced won't be too much longer since i'm about to have three daughters!
Megan's teacher loves to fix her hair. It's so funny when I pick her up some days and her hair is in a bun or braided pigtails. Last week, her teacher decided to french braid her hair. I have no idea how she gets Megan to let her fix her hair. Anytime I take a brush to her hair, Meggie immediately exclaims, 'ow!' So, I rarely try to fix her hair. I also have no idea how to french braid, and had no idea Meggie's hair was even long enough.... but isn't it cute!
I picked the girls up Thursday from school, and found that both of them had had accidents! Meggie's cloth diaper leaked at nap time since she slept so long, so she had to change her pants. One day, i'll learn my lesson and take extra clothes- these were pretty dirty on the knee.

And Megan had to wear her 'kitty' shoes. I bought the girls flip flops from Target just so they'd have some to wear to the pool, but both girls are loving their new shoes right now.
Poor Gretchen decided to not tell her teacher that she had to potty while they were outside playing and just decided to pee on the playground. She had to put on these ratty little boy pants, and this orange t-shirt, which she put on backwards! I just have to laugh thinking about how she pottied on the playground, and how much she hates to look like a boy, and this is what she had to put on!

I took the girls to Wal-Mart afterwards to pick up plants for their teachers and to get garage sale signs, and two people commented to me about how cute my girls were. One man even stopped his car and told me how cute they were and how blessed my husband and I were. I just found it ironic that two people thought how adorable they were when they looked like little raggamuffins to me!

Have a blessed day!

It's Party Day!

Now that you've seen how we made her cake, the decorations, & the food, you know get to see the party!
We had the party at 4:00 in the afternoon. A little late, but it worked out perfect, because Megan was able to get a full nap in! In fact, she didn't wake up until 3:40 that afternoon, so she was very well rested!

As I said before, I wanted her outfit to have a vintage flair. She wore a yellow lace petti romper, a chunky bead necklace, and a pink lemonade hair flair.
She had so much fun just running around and playing outside before the guests arrived.

We had set her presents up outside, and DJ and I didn't wrap Megan's present, so of course she found her baby doll and carseat that we gave her. She immediately gravitated toward it and started playing with her doll.

MC and Amelia both saw all of the food on the table, and kept asking for a cookie, so of course, their Gee gave them each a cookie before the party started.
Here's Gee and the birthday girl!
And, Nana with the birthday girl!

Once the guests arrived we started playing games.
The big girls had sack races.

Then we had lemon spoon races.

After games, it was time for our picnic. My mom also brought two quilts for us to sit on.

DJ with Megan.... she had to get some after dinner snuggles.
After dinner we sat on the blanket and opened presents.
Megan received lots of fun gifts: puzzles, bubble maker, bean bag, big girl bedding, baby doll, a dress, pj's, money, and a princess patio set.

After presents, we sang "Happy Birthday" and blew out the candles!

Then, we let the kids play more. We opened her bubble maker and the kids had so much fun playing with the bubbles!

Megan would run over every so often and steal a few bites of cake!
Seriously, I was so pleased with how her party turned out! All of the kids had such a great time and the adults loved the food and catching up!

I can't wait to plan our next party, and yes, I already have a theme picked out!

Megan's Party: Lemonade Theme

I knew for months and months that Megan's 2nd birthday party would have a vintage lemonade theme.  It went from strawberry lemonade to pink lemonade and I knew I wanted to incorporate a vintage flair. I am absolutely head over heels in love with how the details of her party turned out!
My sister in law, made us this burlap door decoration. It was so sweet of her, and i've decided to leave it up all summer!
If you came through my front door, you were immediately greeted by party favors! I really wanted to set these up outside, but we didn't have an extra table, and this way, you could grab your party favor on the way out. I absolutely hate when I forget to hand out my party favors, because who wants the leftovers hanging around?
Each family took home their own lemonade stand to go. They received turquoise and pink cups placed in a cellophane bag with a sticker I ordered from Etsy that says, "Megan's 2nd Birthday Thanks for Coming!"
Families also received a portion of lemonade mix, a pink and yellow notebook, pink, yellow, and turquoise ice cubes, and lemon head candy all placed in a yellow bucket.

Lemonade Mix: Target brand powder portioned out
Lemon Head Candy: I bought two bags for $1.00 and portioned them out into cellophane bags
Notebooks: I found in Target's $1.00 section
Ice Cubes: Also found in Target's $1.00 section, but these were $3.00 per bag and I bought two bags. We picked out the colors we needed and kept the rest for ourselves.
Cups: I gave out three cups & probably should have done four, but I bought these for the party too, so these were basically 'extra's'.
The girls helped put these favors together about a week before the party. It was a great way to incorporate them in the planning!

I spent the most money on our party favors, food, and Megan's outfit. I wasn't very inspired with decorations and wanted those three to be the main focus of the party.
I used vintage lace table cloths on the table; provided by my mom.

Guests dined on Chicken Crescents.

Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Sugar Pita Chips.

I bought sugar cookies from our grocery store, and took them to Megan's daycare, but saved the left overs and placed them on a crystal tray.
The cake is Pink Lemonade cake mix and icing with edible pearls.

I served pink lemonade and yellow lemonade. The pink lemonade was placed in a pitcher, while the yellow lemonade was pineapple flavored and placed in my drink canister.

Here's the recipe for the Pineapple Lemonade: 1 cup Country time Lemonade mix, 2 cups cold water, 1 can of chilled pineapple juice {46 oz}, 2 cans chilled Sprite
I also ordered pink and yellow paper straws from Etsy and placed them in a canning jar.
My mom had this glass urn of lemons at her house and I asked her to bring it up. I tied jute string around it into a little knot.
I also placed three jars of daisies and gerbera daisies on the serving table with a lemon in front. I folded a doily (JoAnn's) and tied it on with jute string.
Megan also served as a decoration in her own right! I really wanted her to have a fun vintage inspired outfit. I purchased a yellow petti romper and a chunky bead necklace. You can get the necklace here. I made her hair flair. You can find my shop here.

I pinned so many things to inspire this party. You can find her party pin board here.

Check back tomorrow for all the party fun!
