This past weekend was busy, and that just may be the biggest understatement of all time.
For some reason, I was late getting home on Friday afternoon (around 5 rather than 4) and DJ even beat me home! (That never happens!) We realized that the ground turkey I put in the fridge the night before had not defrosted, and that we could not make the turkey burgers we had planned. So, we settled on a Mexican restaurant, because I had coupons for two free kids meals, and DJ had never been there before. Plus, you get free cheesedip and salsa and their tortillas are handmade and you get soapapillas for dessert.
DJ had never had a soapapilla. Bless his heart. They were delicious!
Saturday morning was house cleaning day, and I was just planning on catching up on laundrr, dusting, and straightening, when I realized that this would be a perfect time to start in with my organizing that has been put off for way too long. So, I started in Meggie's room, because it's the easiest. I cleared out all of the baby toys that remained in her room and put them in a trash bag to wait on Adalyn.
Then, I dusted her room, changed her sheets, and finally took off her crib skirt and bumper pads to be sold in a garage sale.
I managed to make it to the living room and decided I needed to organize the toy basket in there as well as the ottoman. Then, I thought, why not vaccuum the dog hair out of the ottoman. How in the world does dog hair get in there?
I found toys that needed to go upstairs to the play room, toys that needed to go to Meggie's room, toys that would be sold in the garage sale and toys for the trash can.
Next, I cleaned the girls bathroom. Fun stuff I tell you.
I think it was finally nap time and I promised Gretchen that we would make brownies while MC was napping.
She enjoyed licking the batter!
Those brownies were delish and it gave me a break from cleaning and I was able to spend some time with Gretchen!
Next, we started on the task of moving Gretchen's bed upstairs.
She has been sleeping in her bedroom downstairs, but with the surprise of baby 3, we had to be resourceful and move G's room upstairs to the playroom.
After we moved her bed upstairs, I looked at DJ and told him I wanted to move around the living room.
I wish I had a before picture to show you, but I don't.
We simply moved the couch off the stair wall and over in front of the windows.
This is a horrible picture since the sun was coming in, and I now want lighter curtains or a new couch, but those will come in time.....
And, then we took the two chairs that were in front of the window and moved them over to the wall where the couch was.
And, now I need a larger lamp for that table. I had one, but DJ looked at the inside, and said it looked like a fire hazard. I told him we'd sell it in the garage sale, and that gives me an excuse to buy a new lamp.
Happy girl.
After I finished the downstairs (except for the kitchen and our bedroom) I went upstairs to organize what would be Gretchen's room, and my shared sewing space and the portion that would be sectioned off as the "playroom".
I still have a lot of work to do on my sewing space. I'm dying for a turquoise desk to go up there, and then I would like to get some more storage space..... it just takes some time to do that and i'm not 100% sure how I want to reorganize. I do know that I need another table so I can cut fabric and place completed projects. I also want to add some more to the wall space, and DJ and I decided we needed to get rid of the clunker tv and buy a flat screen.
Behind my space, I updated the "collage" wall. I had the two yellow frames already placed there, and the three flower hooks. I use those to hang and take pictures of completed clothing. I moved the magnetic board over to the wall, hung a smaller pink frame, and the turquoise frame has a picture from the Dixie Stampede; we took that photo during spring break.
I found the "Kids Clubhouse" sign in the town where DJ's dad lives for about 6.00. I need one more frame, and then i'll add two more pictures of the girls with their grandparents.
The playroom space floor is a mess, so i'll update more on that later.
Next, it was on to G's side of the room. We still have some work to do up here, but we did get her bed moved upstairs and I somewhat organized the toys, but that's about as far as I got on Saturday.
Then, we had turkey burgers for dinner!
We decided to stay home from church Sunday morning because we still had tons of laundry to catch up on, and I hadn't even began to clean our master bedroom. We also needed to get the rest of Gretchen's furniture moved upstairs.
G was really fussy that morning, and when we finally sent her to her room before lunch time, we discovered that she made herself a "bed" on the floor and fell asleep! It was a much needed nap for that girl!
MC didn't nap much at all on Sunday afternoon, and we could definitely tell that she was exhausted that afternoon. She got her first papercut, and for three hours, it was just traumatic for her. She and I sat and cuddled for 45 minutes, and I kept praying she'd fall asleep! But, I enjoyed the cuddle time with her. She was very upset that she was bleeding and had to have a band aid, and anytime her finger was touched, she would cry.
We managed to get G's dresser and chest of drawers moved upstairs with the help of our neighbor, and I hung pictures in her room and re-decorated her dresser with her pictures and belongings. The book corner in her room also got organized.
That afternoon, I tried out a new Pinterest recipe, Forgotten Chicken, and it really was forgotten, because it takes three hours to cook, and apparently, I forgot to turn the oven on. At 5:30, when dinner was suppose to be ready, I opened the oven door and found that it was cold.
DJ had to run to the football office that afternoon because his servers had an error message, and he discovered that his meeting rooms had been set up after he spent Friday taking them down. So, he stayed later at the office to take down his meeting rooms again!
Thankfully, he was out, and he brought home pizza, since my oven wasn't turned on.
We put MC down for bed after dinner, and G had been begging DJ to play video games with her that weekend, so that sat down to play while I went upstairs to sew.
I'm going to have to be inventive over the next three weeks to get sewing done while G's awake since we now share that space!
I was so ready for bed Sunday night, and not ready to start another work week! But, only 2 1/2 more to go, and yes, i'm counting them down!
Monday morning, I fixed G's hair like this. She wanted to see her hair, so I just took a picture- sorry for the toilet open... it's clean- I did that on Saturday- remember!
I of course, made her raggie bow, and you can get that here.
