Ice cream cake

Cake Time!!! I debated on whether or not to actually purchase a cake for MC's ice-cream themed party. I didn't want to have huge ice cream sundaes and cake for guests to devour. It's been my experience that many people don't eat both, but I didn't want MC to go without. So, I ordered her a small smash cake, that turned out to be bigger than I thought! 

One of my speech kiddos mom's bakes cakes. She had mentioned it several weeks ago, and about two weeks before the party, I asked if she'd be willing to make MC a cake. I showed her some photos on Pinterest. And we brainstormed what we wanted. It turned out to be a bit bigger than was needed, but I absolutely love how the cake turned out. 

I changed MC out of her Mud-Pie ice cream outfit, and put her in just a bib.

We sang Happy Birthday, and i'm not so sure what she actually thought of everyone singing to her! 

Here's her first blurry bite of cake! 

If you know me, you know that my kids eat a lot of organic, I make 80% of their baby food, and they get lots of fruit and vegetables! So, this was the first time that MC had anything sweet. 

MC is definitely the eater in the family. She's not picky at all, and she's been eating finger foods for a few months now, despite only having 2 bottom teeth. I knew that she would dig right in. 

Once she got past the icing, she took big fistfuls of cake! 

And this y'all, is how much cake she ate! Seriously. 

I was so busy making sure that everyone had their sundaes, taking pictures, and eventually changing G and her friend into their swimsuits, that she ate more than I intended. 

But, she did offer to share! 

After her feast of cake, we hosed her down in the sink, and then she went swimming.

She finally went down for a long nap, and all of the guests had napped, when we decided to go out to eat that evening with DJ's parents. I had to wake her from her nap, and I tried to nurse her before we left. She was definitely not interested in nursing, so I packed up some juice and puffs and we went to dinner. We had just sat down when MC coughed and DJ said, "I think she coughed something up." Of course, she coughed again, and out came her birthday cake. 

Go ahead, nominate me for "Mommy of the Year".
