Once DJ came home Friday night, our day became much better! I'm learning how much I can count on him and how helpful he is when he's around! He went back to work last Wednesday, and Thursday and Friday were pretty hard days for me and the girls, but the weekend was so much better and gave me a new lookout for the week. I'm so thankful for a helpful husband!
Friday night, we let the girls stay up late and watch Teen Beach Movie. I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate for Gretchen, but it was such a cute movie and she loved it! I almost didn't mind the songs, but toward the end, it did get a little repetitive. G enjoyed it though and I loved that we were able to spend special time with her!
One of my favorite times of day is when the big girls are in bed, and I can sit and cuddle with Addy. I try to lay her down though and not just hold her, so often times she ends up on the couch next to me, so I can soak her up! She's already changing and growing in just the two weeks that she's been here!
On Saturday, Addy and I went to Target, and I figured since we wouldn't be gone long, that I'd leave the diaper bag at home. Big mistake. Lesson learned..... She cried the entire way to Target, and ended up needing to be held. I had originally placed her carseat in the larger part of the buggy, but not even 1/4 of the way through our trip she was screaming her lungs out. So, I took her out, and managed to hold her and get the groceries, and check out. I texted DJ afterwards and told him "I rocked that trip like a pro!" But, I will never forget the sling again.
DJ took the girls to the pool on Saturday afternoon, then I made chocolate chip cookies, and DJ grilled burgers for dinner. Our neighbor also came over for a little bit to visit.
Sunday we decided that we would take the girls to church. We managed to be ready on time, and we attempted to get a picture of us girls. But, I think i'm the only one fully cooperating!
We woke up Sunday morning to it pouring down rain, and at our church, we drop the girls off in one building, and then DJ and I walk to our service in another building. Thankfully, the rain had pretty much stopped, and DJ was able to drop me off at the door while I took the big girls in, and then he came back around to pick me up, and we parked closer to our building.
It wasn't raining after church, but I went ahead and took Adalyn to the car, put her in, and DJ walked to the other building to pick up the girls and I picked them up at the door.
Addy did so good in church, and I loved having her in the sling there with us.
When we visited churches after Megan was born, we had the worst experiences with churches asking us to leave or to sit in the back or had continual reminders that they had a nursing mother's room available, and one church didn't even allow kids under age 5 in their service at all. I'm so glad that nobody batted an eye at us on Sunday.
We came home after church, and DJ realized that our air conditioner was out.
MC and I both took naps, and G went to play with a neighbor.
I decided not to cook dinner since the oven would only heat up our house more, so we headed out to Freddy's for dinner. We've only had ice cream there, and wanted to try their food. It was okay. I think i'll stick with ice cream though!
We managed to sleep under fans Sunday night, but it was so hot in the house. MC woke up at 5:00 and didn't go back to sleep, and I managed to sneak in a nap in the morning, but then decided I'd just feel more like myself if I took a shower.
G and MC pretended to be super heroes and wore capes around Monday morning.
MC was helpful in burping Addy after a feeding.
I took the girls to DJ's office around noon and Addy and I ran an errand and then went back to the football offices for just a bit.
We came home and MC took a nap, and then DJ came home to meet the air conditioner repairman and I took Addy to her 2 week doctor's appointment.
She's weighing in at 8 lbs even and was 21 inches long.
She also received her Hep B shot.
I came home and DJ had dinner ready, so we ate, gave the girls a bath and got them in the bed.
When I put Adalyn down for bed, she started sucking her thumb.
Totally melted my heart.
