Friday night, G had two friends over from school to spend the night. I can't believe that at five years old, she has hosted her second sleepover at our house, and has spent the night at a friends house herself! To be honest, I was really looking forward to having her friends over. I loved having friends spend the night when I was a child, and I have fond memories of sleepovers- staying up all night, talking, giggling. I think it's also a fun part of being a mom to girls. I know we'll have many girls in our house over the next 18 years, and I hope that my girls enjoy this part of their childhood.
A & J are sisters (twins) that G goes to school with. A is in G's class, and G spent the night with the girls this fall. I wanted to have both girls over. Their parents brought them over around 5:00 on Friday night, and we actually found out that their dad played football at ULL, and that our college teams were in the same division. Meaning, DJ would have broke down film on ULL while their dad was playing. After their parents left, I set to work making dinner. G chose to have mac & cheese and pigs in a blanket. I also served cottage cheese.
The girls ate it all, except J who exclaimed that she only eats yellow mac & cheese..... mine was a white b/c it was whole grain macaroni and it was made from scratch. I laughed at her honesty!
MC loved hanging out with the big girls!
After we cleaned up the kitchen from dinner, we got the girls in their pj's and made pallets on the floor for movie time! I bought Peter Pan, which I had planned on buying for the girls' Easter baskets.
Then, we made Campfire Cones. I found the idea on Pinterest, and i'll post a 'how-to' tomorrow.
I let each girl fill their own cone; even MC. It was too close to MCs bedtime, so I ate her cone :) The perks of being a mommy!
I settled the girls down to watch their movie, and baked the campfire cones. The girls enjoyed them once they were finished baking.
After the movie was over, we took the girls sleeping bags upstairs to the play room and let them watch Sofia the First. It took another 45 minutes to settle the girls and get them to bed after Sofia was over. And, I should say, it was mostly getting G settled. A & J were tired and kept telling us that G was keeping them awake!
The girls were awake at 5:30 am, and thankfully, they stayed upstairs until 7.
We had Krispy Kreme doughnuts for breakfast and the girls played more until their mom picked them up around 10.
I was exhausted trying to get them to sleep and them getting up earlier than we usually do on a Saturday, but managed to get a two hour nap in later that morning!
It was such a fun weekend and G and the girls had so much fun!
