A few weeks ago, we had the chance to go to our neighbor's 8th birthday party! She chose to have a skating party, and I was excited to take G skating for the very first time. This winter, she talked so much about ice skating, and we just didn't feel comfortable taking her at such a young age. I know ice skating and roller skating are different, but to G they were pretty similar!
When we got there, I had G sit down so I could put on her skates. I told her that they would feel very heavy on her feet. I wanted her to try to know what to expect, so she wouldn't start to cry and complain of them hurting when I put them on.
Thankfully, she did great, and was ready to go!
She stood very well in the skates, and because they had rented out the skating rink, there weren't many people, and most of the older girls were skating around on the stage. I pulled G around the rink a few times, and then she decided she wanted to play with the big girls. And, dance around on the stage.
MC was just happy to be playing with a balloon!
We had pizza and cupcakes, while DJ and MC sat and watched.
DJ decided that he would try out his roller blading skills, and make sure he wasn't too old to skate!
MC was just happy to crawl around and play.
I'm glad that G's first time skating wasn't overwhelming. It was perfect that there weren't many kids there. I just wish we could've convinced her to skate a little more, but she wanted to be a big girl and run around with them!
