Cinderella Costume

I'm taking G to Princess on Ice this weekend, and decided that she needed something special to wear.

She has no idea that i'm taking her to the show, but she already loves princesses, and she talks about ice skating all the time- so it's a perfect combination! My mom is coming to watch MC, so it'll just be a fun morning for G and I! I wanted to surprise her with the gown as well, but I really needed her to try it on, and to get her measurements as I was making it. So, I told her what I was making and that it's for a special surprise on Saturday. She's so excited!

Here's how her tutu gown turned out:
The gown has a light blue crocheted bodice with light blue tulle, intermixed with light blue sparkle tulle. I also added loops on each hip, and sequined bows where the loops join to the gown. She has organza off the shoulder sleeves and a sequin bow on the top.
Here's an up close of the sequined bows.
I made her this hair bow last year and it's perfect for her to wear again.
I can't wait for her to wear this Saturday and for her to see her surprise!

If your daughter is dreaming of being a princess this Halloween, I would love to make her a tutu gown or skirt!

It's Fall Y'all! ~Decorations~

I was so thankful when September 22nd rolled around and it was officially FALL! I decided last Friday night that it was safe for me to drag out my fall decorations and get my house Fallified!

I have an antique secretary in my entry way, and I removed basically everything with the exception of the white vase. I filled it full of a fall flower arrangement and glittery pumpkins. I added a few dishes, bowls, squirrels, and this rod iron candle stand with an ombre taupe candle.
I wanted to find a fun fall photograph to display, so I dug through my photos that still aren't put in albums and found this picture of G crawling over pumpkins at the pumpkin patch last year. Perfect.
I'm totally in love with anything that glitters or shimmers. I added these acorns into a leaf dish.
I'm so thankful that I pledged Alpha Gam in college. My sorority days gave me a jump start on fall decorating! These little squirrels were the perfect addition to my entry way.
And here's a close up of my flower arrangement, complete with glistening pumpkins.
I kept my living room somewhat simple because I have four little hands that like to touch, pull, and remove items. On a side table, I added an acorn dish full of acorns and a squirrel candle holder. There's also an acorn shaped candle dish, that MC removed before I took this photo!
On top of our DVD tower, I placed this large squirrel dish full of glistening fall gourds and pumpkins.
 Close-up
On my kitchen island, I pulled out a glass hurricane and filled it with shimmering pumpkins, a pilgrim woman, and a pumpkin candy dish.
On the shelf, I added my pilgrim couple, a salt and pepper squirrel and nut shakers, a candle and a pumpkin arrangement.
My grandmother actually made the piece around the candle. It was on a glass dish, but that candle had melted in the attic, so I just pulled off the arrangement and added it to a plain candle.
I added placemats to the table, and kept the centerpiece simple. I've wrapped the bottom of the hurricane in jute, filled it with coffee beans and replaced the red candle for a taupe candle.
I placed two fall platters on top of my cabinets.
Here's a close up of the leaf. I love this one, because it's red, buff, and green- AGD's colors.
Back in the living room, I replaced just a few things on the mantle. I tend to decorate in earth tones browns, beige, and touches of color anyway, so it was easy to replace just a few things and have it still feel like fall. I added brown wicker pumpkins, and a pumpkin candy dish.

I actually don't have a lot of Halloween decorations, so I only had this sideboard table to decorate. I made the "trick or treat" bucket for G when she was one, and i'm making another for MC this year. Their ghost footprints was a pinterest project last year, and my mom bought me the "Count Down to Trick or Treat" sign last year. I just added ribbon to hang it. The pumpkin candy dish was given to me by my mom, and I'd love to replace it, because it's awkward carrying to the door every Halloween, but i'm not sure when I actually will replace it!
Finally, I hung my fabric scrap banner on the stair rail. I used it on my fireplace last year, but I wanted my fireplace to be more sophisticated this year. I plan on adding a burlap banner to the fireplace this year, and this banner added a fun touch that leads the way upstairs to the play room.
I'd love to see your fall decorations! Leave a comment with your blog so I can visit!

Weekend Wrap-Up~ In-Laws, Fun, and Football!

I was so excited that Saturday was the first day of Fall! (It's my all-time favorite season.) And, I was glad to be able to break out some of the fall clothes that have been stored in the girls' closets.

Friday night the girls and I cleaned house, played outside with neighbors, and I decorated the house for fall. DJ and I stayed up late waiting on his mom, sister, and nephew to arrive, so I had plenty of time to clean & decorate!

Saturday morning was spent doing laundry, picking up, cooking breakfast for a houseful, and getting ready for the day. DJ had football meetings in the morning, but he was able to come home around 11, to spend a few hours with us!
I purchased MC's farm smocked outfit from Rhea Lana's consignment sale, last February. It's a Castles and Crowns brand.
This girl is always climbing and moving- it's getting harder and harder to take a good photo of her!
We attempted a "cousins" picture, but MC wasn't cooperating well.
She wanted nothing to do with it:
So, I sat her back down and told G to "hug" her cousins. Which turned out to be choking her cousins.
The babies finally had enough! I love this picture- G was clueless, because she had done what we asked her, but it just didn't help!
We tried to get one with nana, but this time, G wasn't wanting to cooperate.
We ate at Los Cabos for lunch (yum!) and went to downtown B.A. for a moment. Then headed back home so the kiddos could nap before the ball game! (I took one too!)

My sister-in-laws, sister-in-law lives about two hours from us in Oklahoma, so she and her kids came up for the game as well!

Here's the whole kid crew!
MC was ready to cheer on the Hurricane!
I tried taking the girls up in the stands, which I haven't done in 1 1/2 seasons, so we didn't stay up there too long! G was okay, and jumped around and cheered.
But MC just wanted to climb and squeeze through people, so, we didn't stay up there long, and I took the girls down to play by the offices. During the 2nd quarter, I decided MC needed to go to bed, and I took her in DJ's office to lay her down. I'm so thankful that we decided to take our pac n play to his office this season, and she slept the rest of the game! Thankfully, our TU boys pulled out a victory with a score of 27-26!
On Sunday, we went to eat at Mimi's Cafe for breakfast. DJ's mom and sister had to leave, and DJ had to get into the office. The girls and I took naps and got the house picked up after having company!

We had such a busy weekend, and i'm so ready for TU to have away games the next two weekends so the girls and I will get a little bit of down time!

Heavy Heart

My heart is heavy tonight, and it has been for the past several weeks. I know the old saying that "when it rains it pours", and I can tell you that God is raining in so many lives that I know. I just wanted to take some time tonight to share some prayer requests, and to ask you to join me in praying for these lives. I'm also praying that I can look back at these in God's time, and see many turn into praises! I have faith that God can do amazing things!

Please pray for DJ's aunt. She has been diagnosed with the final stages of cancer, and we know that sometime in the next several months, his aunt will go home to be with Jesus. On the praise side, she was just released from the hospital and will be able to spend her last few months at home! I know this is something i've been specifically praying for!

Please pray for two of my facebook mom's group friends. Both of them are young and have young children and have been diagnosed with breast cancer. They are both in various treatment stages, but please pray for their recovery and healing.

Also, pray for another facebook mom's group friend who has an enlarged uterus which could mean several things. Pray that it is not cancer, but that it is something that can be easily treated. Also pray for her and her husband as they decide whether or not to expand their family.

I read earlier today on Kelly's Korner about a family who was on their way to the hospital Saturday evening to deliver their baby. They were in a car accident and the mother passed away. The baby was born, but was without oxygen for a long period of time. The father, who just lost his wife, must now make the decisions regarding his baby's life. I just cannot fathom making that decision as a parent.

There are two little girls at my elementary school whose mother passed away last Saturday night. The funeral is tomorrow. Pray for them and the family.

Finally, pray for Devon Walker, the player at Tulane that was injured in our football game two weeks ago. Again, my heart is just heavy for him and his family. Pray for his healing and rehabilitation. Pray for the safety of all football players. It is so hard to know that it is my husband's profession, but that every week these players are literally risking their lives just for a game of football.

Please share your prayer requests or praises so I can join you in prayer!
