What I Wore Wednesday

Today I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday, And I cannot wait to show my first look!
Sheaffer has been talking about this dress on her blog for weeks now, and I've been oodling over it! Well, it finally went on sale and I snatched it up!
I ordered a size medium, and part of me thinks I could have gotten away with a small, but I still need my post baby hips and belly to be hidden for a bit. So, I paired it with a belt to cinch the waist a bit.

I wore the Loft dress with leggings and tall boots.

I'm wearing the dress this coming Sunday to a brunch, and I don't really want to wear leggings and boots, so I'm on the hunt for a perfect shoe that should give this dress a totally different look!
Last Thursday, the girls had dentist appointments. I wore a blue tunic from the Limited (last year) with my skinny jeans and boots, and paired it with a coral necklace and earrings, and chevron bangles.

I love the mix of coral with the royal blue.

I had a super cute outfit on Monday for work, and I never got around to getting a picture of it. My office has horrible florescent lights and when I got home, I was so ready to get into something a bit more comfortable!

Trendy Tot Tuesday: Halloween Costumes

For this week's Trendy Tot Tuesday, I thought I'd share with you our Halloween costumes from previous years!

Gretchen was 8 months for her first Halloween, so I didn't dress her up and take her trick-or-treating. Instead, we stayed home and handed out candy. I still remember her crawling to the door and being so sad when the children were leaving!

For her very first Halloween, I decided to make her a Dalmation puppy costume.
I couldn't find puppy ears, so I used bunny ears, sewed the ears down, and glued on black sequins. I also added a loop of ribbon, so I could attach a hair bow to her ears.

Next year, she was a clown. I made her a tutu, added ribbon suspenders, and glued a flower to them. I also made her loopy pigtail bows, and for the pant ruffles, I just did a mini tutu that would slip around her ankles.

The following year, Megan had arrived, and I wanted to do matching costumes. We settled on Little Miss Muffet and her spider.

Gretchen wore tights with leg warmers, a pink tutu, a pink leotard, and my mom made her a white apron and white bonnet to wear.
Megan wore a super fun tutu made of black and purple tulle. I also added black marabou around the tutu for the legs. I put a kufi hat on her, and then I found a black foam spider web in Target's holiday craft section. I glued marabou around the foam web, added a spider, and attached it to a clip.

She was the cutest little spider!
In 2012, I took Gretchen to Princess on Ice, and she wore this Cinderella tutu gown that I made for her.

But, she was not Cinderella for Halloween.
Instead, she was Tinkerbell!

I let her wear tights and I purchased her shoes from the Disney store. Then, I created her tutu dress with a crochet top and green tulle. I bought her wings from the Dollar Tree.
Megan was a fairy as well. She was decked out in pink and orange.

Her tutu dress had a pink crochet top with a pink and orange tulle skirt. I bought her wings from the Dollar Tree as well, and then I embellished the center of them with feathers, butterflies, and flowers! They were completely over the top!
I think her wings were my most favorite part of her outfit!!!

I love that I've been able to make their Halloween costumes every year! This year, Megan is going to be a witch, and I've made her dress and hat. Addy will be a witch too, and has a little hat to wear. Gretchen decided on Princess Sofia, and she declared that I could not make her costume this year, because I might mess it up. So, I broke down and bought her a Sofia the First gown from the Disney Store.

What are your kiddo's going to be for Halloween? Do you make or buy their costumes?

Weekend Wrap Up

Well, it's the weekend wrap up, plus last Thursday and Friday! We've been so busy the last few days! Both of the girls were scheduled to have dentist appointments for this coming Wednesday, but because it's my day to work I called to reschedule, and they were able to get us in Thursday. It was perfect since it was my day off! I ended up keeping Megan home with me. We dropped Gretchen off at school and then came back home so I could get dressed, then we went back to pick up Gretchen.
Megan was so proud of herself because she picked out her clothes Thursday morning. DJ got her up out of her room, and she was standing at her closet saying "I want to wear this dress and this coat." So, that's what she got to wear.
Addy Pearl rolled over twice from her belly to her back during her Thursday morning naps. She honestly has been rolling over for a while, but i've been in denial. It's going to be sad that I don't have the actual date written down, but she's probably been rolling over in her crib for the past month.
Anyway, I got Gretchen picked up from school and then we went to the dentist. I take them to a pediatric dentist and they have a huge play structure in the waiting room and the girls had the best time playing. I was really terrified how Megan would do at the dentist. This was her third appointment, and her last two I was literally holding her down. It was not good.

Thankfully this time went much better! They took Gretchen to a room, and then Megan and I went to a different room. Megan picked out a Tiana toothbrush and then the hygienist brushed her teeth. I tried to prepare Megan all morning by telling her that we were going to get her teeth brushed.
Gretchen was a pro. This was her after her cleaning.
Megan was waiting on Gretchen to get finished.

Once both girls had their teeth cleaned, the dentist saw them and happily reported that there were no cavities!
Thursday night is suppose to be DJ's early night to get home from the football office. I thought it would be fun for us to carve our pumpkins and I knew that if we didn't do it on Thursday, that we wouldn't have another chance.

He didn't make it home until 6:30 but we were determined to get the pumpkins carved.

The girls had so much fun playing in the 'guts'. They were even eating it!
I bought little pieces that you can stick in the pumpkins to make silly faces, and that kept the girls busy while DJ carved.

I didn't get a picture of our completed pumpkins, but I will! As soon as the girls were finished we dunked them in the tub and put them all to bed! It was a late night, but totally worth it!

DJ flew to New Orleans on Friday, and I worked in the afternoon. I had been looking forward to Friday night all last week because I had some fun activities planned for the girls.
I made mummy dogs, and planned on making monster pudding, but it wasn't ready in time for dinner. So I served "eyeballs, bugs, and ghost cheese". Yeah, I'm that creative.
One of our neighbor's came over to play before dinner, so I asked her to join us. The girls were happy to have a friend!

The pudding I made finally set so I let the girls make "monster pudding" before bed.
We just stirred in a few drops of a food coloring and added sprinkles.

Then, I let them watch a Sofia the First show before bed.
Addy hung out in the swing.

Megan has learned how to open her door, which meant for an early morning on Saturday. She was up by 6:30 and Gretchen woke up around 7. Thankfully, the girls played well together in Megan's room and I was able to rest a bit longer.
Once I got up and fixed the girls breakfast, Megan told me that she wanted to sit with Gretchen. I just thought it was so sweet.
That afternoon, I found the girls coloring pictures together.

After dinner, we decided to paint our pumpkins that we didn't get to paint on Friday night.
I gave each of the girls two small pumpkins to paint and I painted two larger ones.
After pumpkin painting the girls got a bath and went to bed.

DJ came home a little after 11 on Saturday and we both tried to sleep in on Sunday! I somehow convinced him to get up with the big girls and Addy and I slept until 9, and then once I got up, DJ went back to bed!
Meggie was so sweet all day and wanted to hold Addy or have Addy sit with her

I spent most of my day appliquéing shirts while the big girls played and Adalyn napped. The girls had tons of fun making a fort out of barstools, chairs, and blankets in the living room! It kind of makes my type A personality go crazy, but i'm slowly trying to learn to let the mess go, and thankfully Gretchen has been much better about helping clean up in the evenings before bed.

Now, if I could only get her to clean her room!

Magic Christmas Pillowcases

I spent the last week and most of Saturday in front of my sewing and embroidery machine to complete all of your Magic Christmas Pillowcase orders!
I'm still getting questions from fans asking what the Magic Christmas Pillowcases are! So, I'd love to explain it to y'all! MCP's were started last year by HPA. My mom and I were rummaging through our favorite craft store when we somehow came up with the idea to make my girls pillowcases for Christmas eve. Once we started thinking further, we decided that they'd be cute embroidered with their name and then we thought more and we asked my mom's best friend to write a poem to the girls explaining their 'magic'!
The poem is written for either a boy or a girl, and the premise is that your child's pillowcase was made at the North Pole by Santa's elves. The pillowcase appears can appear to your child in a few ways- one, in the mail, explaining that it's to help your child sleep before Christmas, or it can arrive on Christmas Eve. Last year, our Elf on the Shelf brought our pillowcases back with him from the North Pole from one of his nightly visits back.
The girls found them under our tree with our elf!

When Christmas is over, the pillowcases are to be packed away and 'shipped' back to the North Pole, and then they'll arrive back the following year!
Our MCPs are such a fun family tradition to begin with your children!

I have tons of fabric choices on my Facebook page as well as border colors. You'll receive a personalized pillowcase along with a personalized poem (one per pillowcase)!

I will be accepting pre-orders on these through the end of November. Anything after December 1st will have a $5.00 rush fee attached, so please order early! I also have designer fabrics available at a low additional fee. To order, please private message me on my Facebook page!

I really do hope you'll add this family tradition to your own family!

5 on Fridays

I'm linking up today with several other blogs to bring you 5 on Friday! I'm so excited to be linking up with several other fabulous bloggers! Be sure that you go check them out by clicking here after you catch up with me!

1. I put this amazing dish in the crock pot on Monday and devoured it as soon as I got home from work! I actually prepped everything Sunday night, put the CP in the fridge, and then got the dish out, set it in the cooker, and turned it on- so easy! It's simply frozen chicken breast, frozen corn, a can of black beans (drained & rinsed), a can of rotel, ranch dressing dry seasoning, cumin, onion powder, chili powder, and a block of cream cheese. Heaven in my mouth y'all! I ate mine with tortilla chips and topped it with cheese, and the best part was that Gretchen ate it right up too!
2. Addy Pearl has been rolling over for a while. I've been in denial about this but today, I found twice that she had rolled over during her naps today. It makes this mama sad, but y'all, she's 16 weeks old today!
3. The girls had dentist appointments yesterday. I was terrified of how Megan would be at the dentist, because she has screamed bloody murder her last two check ups! I prepped her by telling her that she was going to the dentist to get her teeth brushed and she did super well! She cried and was more scared when the dentist came in, but with the hygienist, she did great!
4. After the dentist appointment, I took Gretchen back to school and kept Megan home with me. I didn't see a point in having DJ take her to preschool just so I could pick her up two hours later for the dentist, and she was going to miss lunch anyway. It was just easier that I kept her home… Anyway, once we got home, I put Megan and Addy down for their naps. I finished four complete pillowcases and I only have one more to sew together and then I will be 100% caught up on your Magic Christmas Pillowcase orders!!!
Magic Christmas Pillowcases are exclusively made by Honey Pie Accessories. You'll pick out fabric and a border color, and all pillowcases will be embroidered with your child's name. Each pillowcases arrives with a poem explaining their magic! They're made by Santa's Elves to help your child sleep well on Christmas Eve. On Christmas day, you pack them back and send them by Polar Express back to Santa until next year! We started this tradition last year with my girls and with my business, and it's been a hit! Seriously, it's a tradition you need to start!

5. DJ will be in New Orleans this weekend for the TU vs. Tulane game. First, say a prayer for our teams safety as they travel and for our players during the game! Also, pray that we can pull out a victory! Tulane is having a super good season! Anyway, tonight the girls and I are going to have mummy dogs, monster pudding, and paint & decorate our pumpkins!
The rest of the weekend will be spent sewing and catching up on all orders. My goal is to be 100% caught up (with the exception of Christmas pj's) by Sunday! I also need to make Megan's Halloween costume, and I'd love to take the girls to the pumpkin patch at some point, but we'll see!

I hope y'all have a great weekend too!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!
