A Shower for Adalyn

This past weekend, we traveled to Arkansas (again) for my first baby shower for Adalyn! My mom's best friend offered to throw us a shower, and even though she's our third girl, we still have a few things on our wish list, and let's just be honest, showers are such a fun way to celebrate a new baby, whether it's your first, or 19th (Michelle Duggar!)
The cake.
It's simply gorgeous. I don't think i've seen a more precious cake.
And, it tasted fabulous!
Chocolate cake- makes this prego very happy!
Mrs. Libby was also thoughtful enough to set up a little kids table for G, MC, and A (my niece)
And, all the food.

My mom and I didn't have time for lunch and we were starving! I was so glad there was tons of yummy food to eat!
We had fruit with dip, spinach dip with crackers and pita chips, ham & poppy seed sandwiches, and a cheese ball.

I was also given this corsage to wear, and I honestly thought it was real until I went to take it off, and realized that it wasn't! Mrs. Libby had made the corsage. I'm so glad that it is fake, because it will be placed in Addy's bedroom.
Here's G and I before the shower.

MC fell asleep in the car on our way over, and she's a bear without her nap, so I let her sleep a little while longer once we arrived, which just means that I have no pictures of her before the shower, but us mamma's know that naps come first!
My best friend, Laura, was able to come!
My mom, G, myself, my grandma, my niece, and sister in law.
(MC was still napping!)
Presents.
We are so blessed.
Opening presents.

By this time, MC was awake, and she was more than happy to help open presents. G ran off to play with some little toy trucks, and totally missed me opening presents.

We received crib sheets for Addy's bed, a toy, two outfits, a gorgeous handmade crocheted hat and blanket, a lamp for her room, a strawberry bathing suit and hat, and a few handmade chevron goodies from my mom.

And apparently, when it's your third baby, the mom gets a little pampered as well! My sister in law, bought me three new chevron bangles, and I was given a gift certificate for a mani/pedi!
My mom has made the girls a wreath for the hospital door, and then it hangs in their bedroom. This is Adalyn's wreath.

Does anyone else do this, or is it just a southern tradition?

I know back when I was growing up and my older cousins were having babies, the trend was large bows with the baby's name, DOB, weight, etc. on the ribbon, but we just do wreaths now!
Here's me with Mrs. Libby- the hostess with the mostess.

Seriously, she's such a great friend to my mom (and me as I've gotten older!)

Visit to Nana's

Last weekend, we took the girls to visit DJ's mom and more of his family. I ended up taking a half day off work so we could leave at a decent hour for the 6 hour drive. I thought I was more prepared with the girls for our road trip, but I was totally unprepared! MC was so fussy in the car and only slept about 20 minutes. Therefore, she was whiny the rest of the trip! We downloaded movies on the ipad for the girls to watch, and stopped in Conway, so my mom could pick up our dog. We took the girls potty and bought doughnut holes, and I decided to just sit in the back with them so we could all watch a movie.
This was when Meggie was somewhat happy and entertained!

We met DJ's mom and handed the girls and their stuff off to her, so we could make it to a high school play that DJ's sister choreographed. DJ's dad and stepmom were also there, and the play was so good! I was very impressed, and she did a great job with the choreography. Afterwards, we all went out and grabbed a bite to eat.

Saturday morning, the girls were up early, but DJ and I were able to sleep in a bit thanks to his mom! She cooked us breakfast, and we had a lazy morning. We ended up going to eat at El Acapulco (one of our favorite Mexican restaurants when we were in college) and then DJ took the girls back to his mom's so they could nap.

I managed to get to my high school friend's consignment store and stocked up on dresses and Matilda Jane clothes for the girls! I totally overspent, but I was getting a good bargain!

Afterwards, I went to visit my college friend who was Matron of Honor in our wedding. She just had her first baby girl, and I wanted to see them!
The girls were able to play outside for a bit at his mom's house, and then we went to his sister's house for more play time, and for dinner.

My brother in law made chicken fajita's- he's such a good cook, and my mother in law made a taco dip and chex mix! They also had chocolate chip cookie bars- yum!

Sunday morning we got up and got dressed, and headed out around noon. We drove around our college campus to see how much it's changed and then stopped to eat at Firehouse subs per DJ's request.

The ride home was just about as interesting as the drive over! G had to go potty about 45 minutes after we had gotten in the truck, and there was nothing but soybean fields everywhere! We pulled over and let her go on the side of the road, and then 40 minutes later she was telling us she had to potty again!

MC was entirely too fussy and just would not fall asleep! We may or may not have purchased Benedryl during the next potty stop.
She finally fell asleep and slept for about two hours.

Our original plan was to stop back by my mom's house and pick up the dresser we purchased for Adalyn, and to pick up our dog, but we were just so ready to get home!

I think we made it home around 8, and I knew the girls wouldn't go straight to bed so we let them play outside for a little bit while DJ unpacked the truck.

I'm so glad that we were able to make the drive over to Jonesboro. I'll be honest that the car ride sucked, but I know we won't be able to make it this summer, and it's so important that we make a point to get over there to visit family!

Hopefully, i'll be more prepared for the next road trip!

Puffs, Flowers, and Bows

I love getting to share my new creations with y'all, and today, I have a few more!

Spring and Summer have inspired me to use bright pops of color~ I love these pieces!
These headbands are made with grey and white chevron elastic, and you'll receive one turquoise flower puff, or one hot pink flower puff!

I used these in MC's birthday headband, but I just had to put them on headbands for y'all too!

I think all ages could wear these headbands!
This trio of bright pink shabby flowers are also placed on a chevron elastic headband.

The piece would be so sweet in newborn photo pictures, or worn you can wear it with your hair pulled back in a pony-tail!

Nagorie feathers are just beautiful. This one is made with bright and light pink feathers, and adorned with three shabby light pink flowers and a jeweled center. It's placed on a pink elastic headband for easy wear!
Above: A turquoise boutique bow stacked on top of a  pink and white chevron bow. I love how these colors mix together!
Perfect for Memorial Day or Independence day, your little honey pie will be so patriotic with this hair bow!
I've created many Sofia the First inspired hair bows, and I decided to do one that was stacked with loops. The bow is perfect for any princess made in pink and lavender; Sofia's favorite color!

Summer Bows!

I have really enjoyed creating a few new hair bows over the last weeks, and I'm so excited to share them with y'all today! Of course, if you already 'like' my facebook page, then chances are you've already seen these bows! But, on the blog, you get to take a closer look!
I made this bow to match the Fanny Flamingo shirt seen here. I'm just loving mint green right now! I'm shopping for the color, many of my new products have the color, and this bow and shirt have the color! It's so fresh and springy!

This bow has a pink base bow with yellow dot surround a loops underneath. It's extra loopy on top with mint green, orange, pink, and yellow loops all over!

I had a customer request for a loopy bow a few weeks ago, and now I'm addicted and just can't stop!

I was contacted by a customer to see if I could make a matching hair bow for her daughter's 4th of July skirt! First off, props to this mama for planning ahead! And, of course- I love to make custom accessories, and bring your ideas to life!

Her daughter's skirt was three blocks of lace in red, white, and blue (of course!) My original thought was to layer lace on top of grosgrain ribbon to create the bows, with blue being on the bottom, a layer of red lace, and then a white lace bow on top. Sadly, blue lace is super hard to find!!! So, I had to change up my design plan and I created what you see above!

The base boutique bow is made with white ribbon with a white lace overlay. I added a red loop of lace in the middle, and placed a blue with white stars boutique bow on top. There's also a red star, and I just love it! The lace was really fun to work with and just adds such a feminine touch to the piece!

I had made one Hogs hair bow, and had a request for another, but she wanted black feathers in the bow. I decided to stick with a solid red base bow, and add zebra loops and then the hogs boutique bow on top. I adorned the side with a tiny hogs bow, and a red sequin.

Whoo Pig!
(Don't let my husband read this!)
MC's 2nd birthday is the end of May, and i'm definitely already planning her lemonade theme birthday party! I found this hot pink and yellow layered nagorie feather, and placed two huge flower puffs on top, with a yellow bow and ordered a lemon feltie from a friend!

Eek- she's going to be so darn cute on her birthday!!!!

Thanks so much for letting me share these with y'all today!
I'll soon be sharing summer applique shirt designs with MORE bows, and I have a super exciting giveaway coming up with several other boutiques, so stay tuned!

As always, feel free to pin these images with credit to HPA.

Random Photo Dump

I have a few random photos to share with y'all today- nothing spectacular, but I still had to share.

A few weekends ago, DJ convinced me to put my scissors, ribbon, and sewing machine down and to join him outside while he trimmed the hedges. I was so glad that I did! The weather is finally turning into spring, with a few bi-polar days in between, but it was so nice to sit outside and just be with him. I later went in to put on shorts, and check on MC (who had been napping) and found her awake. So, I changed her clothes and took her outside too.
There's just something about a little girl in shorts that I love. Only babies can pull off shorts and chunky thighs!
We recently bought Bailey a new dog bed, and she loves it! This one is much bigger than her last and she's on it all the time now!
And, just to show y'all how many orders I've had recently! Here are 8 packages ready to be labeled and shipped out!

Thanks for showing the love on my page (and my blog).

Have a blessed day!

Angelina Ballerina

A few weeks ago, I took G to see Angelina Ballerina at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. I love being able to expose G to the arts, and to have girls night out with her, but sometimes tickets can be so pricey! Last year, I took her to the Fresh Beat Band, and I've been looking for the perfect performance this year. Peter Pan and The Lion King were both good options, but just way out of my price range.

I saw the add for Angelina Ballerina and that tickets were only $10.00 and I knew that it would be the perfect girls night for us! The great thing, was that spring football would be over, and DJ would be able to keep MC at home.

It turns out that two of G's friends from preschool (that she's had a few sleepovers with) wanted to go too, and their mom purchased tickets in our exact same row so we could all sit together!
I decided not to let G know in advance about the performance. I didn't want her bugging me every day about when it would be, and I also didn't want to hang it over her head that if she didn't behave that she wouldn't be able to go. Because, sometimes, I fail, and I do that.

I picked her up from school on the day of the performance and rushed her home to take a bath and get dressed. She knew there was surprise, but she had no idea until we pulled up to her friends house where we were going!!!!

Her friends had received their tickets from the Easter bunny and A had been talking about it all week to Gretchen. G even saw an add for the performance in a magazine and just had to tell me about how I should take her!

After picking up our friends, we went to dinner at Panera and then on to the show.
Our seats were in the 2nd row, and I was thrilled to be so close, but honestly, any seat in the theatre would've been great!

After the show was over, the characters came down into the audience and danced with the little girls! I couldn't see very well, but I did see that G was pretty close and gave her Angelina a hug.
They also had a meet and greet and autograph signing when the performance was over. It was a little chaotic getting through the crowds, but G waited very patiently.

She even got to give Angelina another hug!

G was so tired by the time we got home! She had so much fun, and she's decided that she needs to start taking ballet lessons again. (When she's good at gymnastics, she says.) I told her she was more than welcome to switch back to dance this fall when she starts kindergarten!

I'm most glad that we could have this girls night, and that she could be with her friends, I could have a little grown up girl conversation, and that she and I could spend some quality time together! She's just growing up too fast!!!
