Morning Fun & Climbing

I had some time yesterday  morning to snap some pictures of the girls before we left for school. We never have extra time in the mornings, and we're often running late, but G and MC both woke up early, and DJ got them both dressed before he left, so that helped tremendously!

MC loves to brush her teeth. Once you give her the toothbrush and she brushes, she'll hand it back for you to put more water on it. I think she loves being a big girl!
MC is also very much a climber lately. It has been exhausting over the past two weeks trying to keep her off of our kitchen counters! We had the Fisher Price music table underneath our bar, and she figured out how to climb on it and then on to the barstool, and then on to the bar. From there, she climbs over the bar and sits on the kitchen side of the counter top.

We finally removed the music table. So, she has been using G's stepstool that was left nearby. We finally took that to G's room, but that hasn't stopped MC- she just goes to her big sisters room and carries the stool out. Tuesday night, DJ took the stool away, and I encouraged MC to get her rocking chair- as in to sit in her rocking chair. The next thing I knew, MC was carrying the rocking chair, that is bigger than her over to the barstool!

On this morning, MC attempted to carry out G's stool, but I guess realized it was too difficult, so she resorted to carrying the time out chair out of the entry way, and over to the barstool.
I left her there for a few minutes, while she and G cut and colored.
Disclaimer: yes, I know she could have fallen. I think she eventually will fall, and hopefully learn a lesson.

A Few More Weekend Pictures

The girls are just into everything lately! MC has recently figured out how to climb on top of the bar, and she enjoys climbing on the barstool to color just like her sister does.

Saturday morning, was no different. She climbed up to color, and then decided she wasn't high enough, so she climbed and sat right down on the bar.
She was acting very silly and started to scoot back and forth. I think she knew we were a little frightened by her actions, but it was obviously funny or I wouldn't have grabbed the camera.

She just thought she was hilarious!
And then she started dancing.
After G's friends had left, she had some quiet time watching Disney Jr. on my phone.
Then, she "played" video games with daddy. Actually, he just gave her a wireless control and she only thought she was playing.... thank you Pinterest for this genius idea!
That afternoon, we went to the mall to buy DJ a new pair of jeans and a shirt. We also stopped in at See's Candy to buy some scotchmallows, and then we bought a birthday gift for G's preschool teacher. Afterwards, we went to eat at Fish Daddy's, and then came home for bed!

Sunday was spent at church in the morning, and then eating BBQ at Oklahoma Joe's. DJ watched the race, and I did some sewing while G played upstairs and MC napped. I took a later nap that evening and DJ made dinner.

It was such a relaxing weekend, although we did not catch up on the piles of laundry we have to do or any house cleaning!

Campfire Cones ~Recipe

We made Campfire Cones at the sleepover on Friday night. I started by setting everything out and cutting and crushing some of the candy.

I purchased the cheap waffle style cones from Target, as well as mini marshmallows, oreos, strawberries, M&M's, caramel chips, chocolate chips, hershey chocolate syrup, and peanut butter cups.

The girls were given one cone and were able to fill the cone with whatever they wanted. The cones did not hold as much as I thought, so we probably did need this much candy.
After the cone was filled, I wrapped it in foil and wrote the girls name on the foil. I layed them on a cookie sheet, and baked them in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes. Once I unwrapped them, I realized I could have left them in at least 5-7 more minutes, just so everything would be a bit more gooey. However, it worked out that it wasn't too big of a mess since the girls ate these in my living room!

The original pin said that they baked these over a campfire, but it's February, and we're not camping, so the oven worked perfectly!

I mixed all of the candies together in a large bag and later this week, we'll make Monster Cookies!

G's Sleepover

Friday night, G had two friends over from school to spend the night. I can't believe that at five years old, she has hosted her second sleepover at our house, and has spent the night at a friends house herself!    To be honest, I was really looking forward to having her friends over. I loved having friends spend the night when I was a child, and I have fond memories of sleepovers- staying up all night, talking, giggling. I think it's also a fun part of being a mom to girls. I know we'll have many girls in our house over the next 18 years, and I hope that my girls enjoy this part of their childhood.

A & J are sisters (twins) that G goes to school with. A is in G's class, and G spent the night with the girls this fall. I wanted to have both girls over. Their parents brought them over around 5:00 on Friday night, and we actually found out that their dad played football at ULL, and that our college teams were in the same division. Meaning, DJ would have broke down film on ULL while their dad was playing. After their parents left, I set to work making dinner. G chose to have mac & cheese and pigs in a blanket. I also served cottage cheese.
The girls ate it all, except J who exclaimed that she only eats yellow mac & cheese..... mine was a white b/c it was whole grain macaroni and it was made from scratch. I laughed at her honesty!

MC loved hanging out with the big girls!
After we cleaned up the kitchen from dinner, we got the girls in their pj's and made pallets on the floor for movie time! I bought Peter Pan, which I had planned on buying for the girls' Easter baskets.

Then, we made Campfire Cones. I found the idea on Pinterest, and i'll post a 'how-to' tomorrow.

I let each girl fill their own cone; even MC. It was too close to MCs bedtime, so I ate her cone :) The perks of being a mommy!

I settled the girls down to watch their movie, and baked the campfire cones. The girls enjoyed them once they were finished baking.
After the movie was over, we took the girls sleeping bags upstairs to the play room and let them watch Sofia the First. It took another 45 minutes to settle the girls and get them to bed after Sofia was over. And, I should say, it was mostly getting G settled. A & J were tired and kept telling us that G was keeping them awake!

The girls were awake at 5:30 am, and thankfully, they stayed upstairs until 7.

We had Krispy Kreme doughnuts for breakfast and the girls played more until their mom picked them up around 10.

I was exhausted trying to get them to sleep and them getting up earlier than we usually do on a Saturday, but managed to get a two hour nap in later that morning!

It was such a fun weekend and G and the girls had so much fun!

Bows, Bows, Bows

Sunday evening I spent a few hours sewing bows and on Monday, I had time to finish and put them together. I really enjoyed having Monday off and time to work on a few ready-to-ship bows.

All of these are available in my facebook store

This brassy flower on elastic will fit your newborn perfectly. It's perfect used as a newborn photo prop, or to accessorize a spring or summer dress. It's priced ready to go at $10.00.
My daughter loves LaLaLoopsy! It's always our "go-to" gift for birthday parties! I had this LaLaLoopys ribbon and these shabby flowers, and thought it would make a spunky piece of hair flair! $12.00
I know many little girls are in love with Olivia! This stacked Olivia bow is $10.00. I can totally see this worn with a polk-a-dot pillowcase dress or by a little girl having an Olivia themed birthday!
This Parisian Chique bow is $9.00. It's beautiful in pink and black and is a timeless accessory.
Dr. Seuss' birthday is March 2nd! I made this over the top Cat & the Hat bow, which would be perfect for next weeks' "Read Across America" event that will be happening in several schools across the country!  The bow has a red and white striped boutique bow on the bottom adorned with a yellow tiny bow on it's side. Turquoise marabou feathers represent Thing 1 and Thing 2's hair, and the turquoise boutique bow is set underneath a sparkling bottlecap featuring the Cat's Hat.
$14.00
Does your little one love to cheer? This basic white and black "go team/cheer" bow is only $8.00. The colors allow for flexibility for all teams & sports!
Check out all of these bows on my facebook page! If you order today (any of these bows) you'll receive FREE shipping!

Animal Safari ~ Gentry, AR

My brother called me bright and early on Sunday morning, inviting us to meet them in northwest Arkansas for the day. We had planned to go to church, but we haven't seen them in a few weeks, and the weather was so nice, that we couldn't turn down the trip!

We drove from Tulsa to Gentry, Ar (about an hour and a half away) to the Animal Safari and Petting Zoo. My brother and his wife had been a few years ago, and the girls are all the perfect age.

When we arrived, we let the girls look at a few animals. Surprisingly, MC wasn't afraid and walked right up to the animals to pet them.
She loved the pot belly pig!
Here are the girls and I checking out the pig.
Then, we went and checked out some chickens.
And the kangaroo's. They were not scared at all, and you could walk right up and touch them.
MC loved the kangaroos!
G was more interested in playing on the rocks and was ready for her Gee to arrive!
Once my brother, sister in law, niece, and my mom arrived, we had a picnic lunch.
Then, we went to check out more animals!

G had to climb on top of the gorilla to take her picture, and she started to make gorilla/monkey noises!
We were able to get MC up there too.
We walked down to see more animals.
And G found a lion, which again, she had to get her picture on! This time she roared!
You could bring your own bread, or buy from the zoo for $1.00. The girls enjoyed feeding the animals.
G chased a peacock!
I love that there were animals just roaming around!

My brother fed this parrot. There were also snakes and a huge porcupine in the barn. (We didn't stay long in here! I was too afraid the porcupine would shoot his spike out!)
We went into another barn that had baby animals! Amelia loves cats, and she was so excited to pet one!
MC wasn't as sure about it! Pretty sure it's the biggest "cat" she's ever seen!
These piglets were nursing!
And, this is a baby giraffe! He was so tall!

Afterwards, we loaded back into the car for the drive through portion of the zoo.

You are not suppose to feed the animals, but shhh- we did. The animals are use to being fed from the cars despite the warnings, but they walked right up to the cars for food! Literally, they were right at your windows and sometimes, their head was in your car!

This guy was really trying to get some food! I had been looking out DJ's window and turned and saw this giant head and teeth! It scared me to death, but was so funny!

I love G's expression in this picture! We rolled her window down a tad and she was terrified!

It was such a fun afternoon! The drive over was easy and the girls had a blast! Although, i'm pretty sure the grown ups had more fun during the drive through portion of the trip! We were all screaming and laughing! The drive through exhibit also has tigers, coyotes, and bears! Don't worry, we didn't feed them as they're all safely secured in their cages!
