Aquarium Field Trip
I have a lot of blog catching up to do. DJ is in Vegas this week, so I'm hopefully that I'll get caught up a bit and have some time to actually blog. It's been too long! A few weeks ago, G had a field trip with her preschool class to the Oklahoma Aquarium.
I was able to join her after seeing a few kids that morning, and was so thankful that my afternoon meeting was cancelled, so we had a few hours to spend together (and with her class) at the aquarium.
It was kind of cool, but G had this super cute fish outfit, that she had to wear! I found her class watching the sea otters and waiting for them to be fed. Then, we went over to see the sting rays.
I was able to get a picture of her with a few friends while they were resting and taking a potty break. Which, is crucial when you have 12 three to four year olds! I think this was the only time they were all sitting still enough (besides lunch).
Afterwards, we went over to see the sharks!
G wasn't so sure about the sharks, but I was able to get a picture of her with a shark swimming behind her.
And, her classmates tried out the shark diving tank. Her teacher and I decided that it the tank couldn't have been built to scale, because those kids could definitely get between the bars, as well as her teacher and myself- we don't ever want to take that tank under the water to "swim" with sharks- no thank you.
It was fun to spend the morning with G, to see her with her friends, and to watch them discover the fish at the aquarium!

Wreath Tutorial
My mom and sister-in-law were here this weekend, which means one of two things. We'll go shopping or we'll do projects. This weekend it was all about the projects! My sister in law and I both decided we needed new wreaths for our front door. I still have my Easter wreath hanging, and I knew I wanted to change it before MC's party next weekend. So, Saturday afternoon, we went to our favorite store. Any guesses on what that might be?
If you guessed, Hobby Lobby, you were right! I'll give you a thousand imaginary dollars- Congrats!
Neither of us were sure what we wanted our wreath to look like, so I pulled up Pinterest on my phone, because I had pinned and remembered seeing lots of cute wreaths!
We found a grapevine wreath that had cream flowers, a silver bow, and the house numbers down the side, and we both agreed that we would make our wreaths the same. After all, we live 4 hours apart, so no one would know the difference (until now.)
I decided not to do our house numbers because we are actually moving at the end of the month. (I know, we're moving again- but that's another post.) So, I went with a "W" for our last name.
Hobby Lobby carries wooden letters for around $3-5.00. I picked up some silver paint and painted it. I started with the sides first, and then painted the front. I skipped the back because no one would see it.
We also purchased a grapevine wreath ($5.00), and some silver deco-trim ($6.00). I already had the wire at home.
I started by wiring the deco mesh to one side of the wreath.
We also purchased one flower bouquet that had 6 large flowers on it. She and I divided the flowers. ($10.00) I pulled off the flower heads, and hot glued them in place between the gatherings of the deco mesh.
When the letter was dry, I used wood glue on the back to secure it in place. I tried using hot glue, but it just wouldn't hold, so i'm glad I found wood glue in the garage (thanks DJ!) I also wired it in place in three different areas, and then I painted over the wired areas with the silver paint.
And, ta-da! I hung the wreath on my front door.
I love the yellow/grey combination! Although, I just noticed that my wreath hanger is gold- oh well.
The wreath cost about $15.00 to make, but we also didn't get anything on sale, which was our fault, because I'm sure it'll all be on sale this week. However, we needed a new wreath yesterday, so we didn't wait. We did however, pull up a 40% off coupon on our smart phone.
Anyway, I love it- hope you do too!

Big Sister Gift
Is anyone else a little freaked out by this blogger change? I mean, I thought it was Facebook or something with the change. I usually embrace Facebooks changes with open arms, but this blogger change may lead me to stop blogging. Seriously.
Ok, not really! But I am posting mainly to help me figure out the changes, and to share this cute idea!
I was contacted, in March, to make a "Big Sister" hair bow for a little girl. Her mother (M) is pregnant, and she was putting together a gift to tell her 6 year old daughter, that she was going to be a Big Sister!
M finally had a doctor appointment, and finally told her daughter the big news! And, this is how she told her!
I love the idea of this gift set! She told me that her daughter wore the outfit to school the very next day, because she was so excited!
M also lives here in T-town, so I was able to meet her & hand deliver the bows! I wish I could see everyone's face when they open their hand made product!
Good luck M on the rest of your pregnancy! Maybe, we'll be making a "little sister" bow to match!

Egg Hunting!
After lunch at my aunt's house it was time for Easter egg hunting! This was always my favorite part as a kid, as my cousins and I anxiously sat waiting on my grandma's back porch while the big kids hid the eggs in her front yard.
This year, my cousin and her kids, hid tons of plastic eggs the night before, so there wasn't a lot of waiting around! G was so excited to hunt for eggs!
I changed the girls into their matching Easter clothes, but failed to get a picture of both of them together! G was running around too much with the big kids!
DJ helped MC during her egg hunt!
MC wasn't so sure of it, but she eventually crawled toward that gold egg and wouldn't let go of it!
G, on the other hand, knew exactly what to do!
Her basket was filled to the top at least twice! Thanks to my cousin H, and the other cousins showing her where all of the eggs were!
These weren't all MC's eggs! They were all of G's! She hit the mother-load! But, I do love this picture of MC in the grass!
Here's one more of G trying to carry her super heavy basket!

Easter Pics!
I think I'll only have one more post after this about Easter! Sunday morning we got G ready first and sent her to Sunday School with my parents. They were having an egg hunt that morning, and we thought it would be fun for her! Here's G in her Easter dress with her basket.
And, another one :) You can see the necklace that she got the Friday before from Charming Charlie's. She just had to wear it!

I'm glad we sent her early, it gave MC a chance to take a nap and DJ and I time to get ready without herding both kids!
Here's MC and I before going to church.
And, MC with DJ.

After church, we took a few pictures before changing clothes & heading to my aunt's house.
It is so hard to get a good picture with everyone looking at the camera and smiling!
We also tried to get one of just the girls, but MC was exhausted and just not having it! Poor G tried so hard to get MC to cooperate!
And, here's another silly one of G. DJ snapped this, because she was at least smiling!

The Easter Bunny!
Saturday evening was spent dyeing Easter eggs and getting ready for the bunny to come! Easter is starting to become one of my favorite holidays, because it's simple, and we get to celebrate Jesus' birth & resurrection. G learned so much about the Easter story at school this year, and it was so special to see her appreciate the true meaning of Easter.
We do however, celebrate the other aspects of Easter.
I didn't take many play clothes to Gee's house, so G had to dye eggs without her shirt on. I remember as a kid being dressed in my Sunday best, with remaining egg dye on my hands! So, we quickly did baths as soon as the egg dyeing was over!
Here's G waiting to dye eggs.
Gee helped her.

Afterwards, we took pictures of the girls with their eggs. My grandma gave G some goggles that she just had to wear!
After baths, the eggs had dried, so G was able to decorate them with stickers.
Then, we gave each girl 6 eggs, and placed them in their baskets, and put the baskets on Gee's dining room table for the bunny to fill.
MC was more fascinated with the eggs inside the basket. As soon as this picture was taken, MC had picked up an egg and dropped it right on to the table!

G went right to sleep, and we decided we should have holidays every day so she would go to bed that well every night!
The bunny filled G's basket with a fishing pole, bobbers, hooks, an umbrella, and a princess kite. She also got some peeps and a chocolate bunny.

MC received two books, a diaper cover, a diaper, and a wet bag. She had puffs hidden in her plastic eggs.
G woke up Easter morning and was super excited to see what the bunny had brought!
All MC cared about was getting something in her mouth.
G loved her umbrella!
And MC loved the hidden puffs.
G also wanted to practice with her fishing pole for a bit, so DJ helped her.
Easter morning was so fun, and thankfully we weren't too rushed! We got ready for church after playing with the girls' gifts and eating a yummy breakfast!

Petting Zoo?
After the presents were opened, the cupcakes devoured, and the guests had gone, grandpa told us he had another surprise!
So, we took off on a walk across their land to the "doghouse." (My stepdad's office.)
And, inside, he had baby chicks!!!
I for one am super excited about the chicks and the possibility of very fresh eggs while we are out their house, and I plan on bringing fresh eggs back home with us!

My stepdad trains dogs for duck hunting, and I'm guessing this duck didn't realize that when she layed her eggs close to the dogs!
I know that the girls & I will miss the babies hatching, and hopefully my step-dad won't keep them for hunting!
G had to take a moment to sit on the dog training stand before we headed back to the house.
Whoops! My brother dumped her out of the wagon, because she wasn't being still!

And, I had to snap these pictures of sweet baby A walking!
And one of her and her momma!
I made my mom take this one of myself & MC, I feel like we never get a picture of just us!
I purchased the sling from Seven Slings, and I googled a promo code, and only paid shipping (which was still around $14.00), but this sling has served us well. MC loves sitting in her pouch, and now she's big enough to go on my side, or she can still sit forward facing. I highly recommend this.

It was such a fun Saturday with the birthday party and discovering the baby chicks & seeing the duck! I promise i'll eventually get all of these Easter weekend pictures posted soon!
