I am so behind on blogging our daily lives and everything that we've been up to, which, let's face it, hasn't been much because we have a now four week old baby in the house, and our days tend to look the same!
Last weekend, my sister and her two kiddos came to Tulsa to visit us and meet Adalyn. They arrived Saturday afternoon, so we spent Saturday morning cleaning the house, while DJ mowed the grass. We went to dinner Saturday night at Los Cabos, and then showed them around the TU stadium, came home and watched The DaVinci Code (that movie never gets old to me!)
We skipped church Sunday morning (somehow we thought that staying up until midnight was a bright idea- trust me it wasn't. I'm officially old.)
We decided to visit the Oklahoma Aquarium on Sunday mid-morning, (pictures to come in tomorrow's post) and then we had BBQ for lunch, came home so MC could nap while the rest of us went to the pool (Don't worry DJ stayed home and worked), and then we grilled burgers.
And last Monday, we went to the park and to the Bass Pro Shop, then home for lunch and naps and they had to drive home......
It was a good visit and I loved having them, but I also enjoy when company goes and the girls and I can get back into our routine. I think with a newborn, I just get exhausted easily while i'm still trying to continue a normal life and routine!
In other news......
Megan has confessed her love for James on Sofia the First.... she doesn't ask to watch Sofia, she asks to watch James. She told me he was cute.
I think it's adorable that she has her first crush and that it's on a cartoon character!
Addy continues to grow and is eating about every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. And y'all, last Friday she turned 4 weeks old! I just can't believe that she's been here a whole month!
DJ was able to get home early last Friday (the 26th) and MC woke to find him home. She was so excited! I think it had been two entire days since she had seen him last. They snuggled a bit in his chair, and he fell asleep. One of the nights that week, he didn't make it home until 11, so he had been pulling some super long days.
MC has learned how to feed her baby.
Tuesday morning (the 30th) Addy and I woke up MC.... G was already awake. I layed Addy down on MC's bed, so I could take off MC's diaper and after she was changed, she layed beside Addy.
And, gave her a hug.
Tuesday was a on again off again day. After having company, I had laundry to catch up on, a kitchen to clean, and I really wanted to vacuum the floors and sweep the kitchen. I also had to get ready for a dinner with the football staff that night, and mine and DJ's first "date night" in several weeks!
Addy would fall asleep and I would lay her down, but within 15 minutes she was up again. I managed to get one thing cleaned or picked up, or one load of clothes folded before she was up again. I felt like I never sat down that morning!
G went with our neighbor out to lunch and then to swim, which was so helpful and finally MC went down for her nap and I managed to get Addy to fall asleep in her swing, which gave me time to shower, put on make up and pretty much finish fixing my hair.
MC woke up and since G was still gone she snuggled on Adalyn some more.
The rest of the afternoon was a blur of me finishing getting dressed, unloading the dishwasher, and finally getting around to running the vacuum cleaner. DJ was suppose to be home around 5, and managed to arrive home 45 minutes later than planned, so I was pretty stressed trying to get everything finished.
I was so happy and relieved when our babysitter arrived that I didn't even have time to be sad about leaving Adalyn for the first time! Thankfully our babysitter did a fabulous job and Adalyn took her first bottle like a pro!
DJ and I joined the football staff at Southern Hills country club for dinner, and I happily enjoyed two glasses of wine along with a mouth watering steak dinner and chocolate lava cake dessert! Hello date night!

I totally hate the way I look in this picture and I've decided that I need a major hair cut, but i'm trying to hold off until September when Megan and Gretchen will be in school, and I won't have to find a sitter. I got my hair cut in June, and the lady did not do a great job, and then I had to buy a new straightener, and I kept blaming my hair on the straightener, and the fact that I don't have time to style it anymore and it just goes up in a messy bun or ponytail right now. So, i'm really hoping a fresh cut will give me the hair that i'm wanting!
(I think I went off on a mini hair rant- whoops!)
Thanks for letting me play catch up today! I'm hoping that I can get more blogging done with fewer in between days over the next few weeks!
