We came back from my mom's last Tuesday, the 13th, and then went to Gretchen's meet the teacher that evening. On Wednesday, I needed to go to the grocery store, and the day was CRAZY! I told myself that I should've gotten up before the girls in order to shower, but then I convinced myself that sleeping was a better idea. Addy was up and down every 10-15 minutes. I was constantly running from the living room to the bedroom sticking a paci in her mouth, turning on her music, rocking the bassinet, holding her until she soothed. It was a constant marathon.
The big girls watched t.v. and had a tea party, and I attempted to get clothes unpacked and other cleaning done around the house between trips back and forth. In fact, the big girls didn't get lunch until almost 1:00 because Miss Adalyn was not cooperating!
I finally put Megan down for her nap, and took advantage while Addy was sleeping, or so I thought. She ended up screaming the entire way through my shower, and then I finally got her to sleep so I could finish getting dressed! I knew that when Megan woke up though that I'd have to wake Adalyn up, feed her, and run to the bank and the grocery store.
It was 4:00 before we finally left the house.
Adalyn cried the entire car trip, but finally calmed down once we got to the grocery store, and I put her in the bjorn carrier. I always park close to the buggy returns, so I can quickly grab one, put Meggie in the front, and Gretchen walks.
Our trip through the store was entertaining at least. As soon as I ordered our deli meat, Gretchen announced that she had to go potty. So off we went, leaving our meat and cheese to be sliced. Halfway through the trip, the girls got a cookie from the bakery, and it was finally time to check out. It was more difficult than I thought taking groceries out of the buggy and placing them on the belt, especially with Gretchen picking up candy and asking for every single one of them, only to be told no. Then, the big girls decided to have a screaming competition. All the while, Meggie wiggled out of her seatbelt and was standing up trying to escape the front seat. The cashier looked at me and said, 'bless your heart', and I just smiled an exasperated smile. I'm from the south, I know that 'bless your heart' is a kind way of saying, "I'm glad I'm not you."
My groceries filled one entire buggy, so they grabbed my empty buggy with Meggie still in the front, and when Meggie noticed she was no longer close to me, she looked at the cashier, who said, "Surprise!" and Meggie started to scream and cry hysterically. I had to take Meggie out of the buggy and hold her while having Addy in the bjorn at the same time. That was fun.
I finally put Meggie down, and as the cashier was scanning the orange juice, to which Meggie cried, "purple juice!" The cashier looked and was going to hand Meggie whatever she was asking for, but instead looked totally confused. I explained to her that Megan calls orange juice purple juice. Don't ask me why.
We finally got out of the store, and drove to the front to pick them up at curbside pickup. And I told myself that I should have bought a bottle of wine.
Once we got home I made Gretchen run next door to ask our 15 year old neighbor boy to help me carry in groceries. It was a grand idea. His mom and sister came over too. At first I rolled my eyes (to myself) but it turned out to be a blessing! We got the groceries carried in while his sister entertained G and MC, and his mom held Adalyn. Then, I was able to feed Addy while my neighbor finished fixing their dinner, and she made her son go get a bottle of wine and I had two glasses.
Yup, they're helping me carry in groceries from now on. Especially if wine is involved.
On Thursday, I got up early because I had new teacher orientation, and one of our coaches wives came over to babysit all three girls. I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed having the day out by myself. It was so pleasant!
Friday morning, I got up early to shower, because the wife was coming over again around lunch time to watch the girls while I went to another meeting. I think I've finally convinced myself that the only way we're going to get out of the house at a decent hour (i.e. not 4:00 pm) is for me to get up at 7 and shower before the girls wake up.
It's a good thing I did, because Addy had another non cooperative day.
Once I got back from my lunch, Meggie, Addy, and I went upstairs to work on hair bows and sewing projects.
Saturday morning was another early morning. I got up around 7:30, took a shower, and we managed to get out the door around 10:30 to head to open house at MCs and Addy's daycare.
And, just because I took a picture of my hair. I know, that's random. Enjoy.
Open house went well, and Megan barely cried and I talked to Addy's teacher, and maybe because she's my third, and i'm familiar with the daycare, i'm not too nervous about leaving her there. In fact, Gretchen asked if we could just leave her there for the whole day.
Thankfully, I have four more weeks home with her.
After naps on Saturday, I put the girls in their swimsuits and we headed off to our head coaches house for a pool party and pizza with the other wives.
Isn't she precious in her strawberry bathing suit and hat!
And all three girls ready to go.
And, just Meggie and Addy, because Megan wanted her picture made with her little sister.
The girls had fun swimming, playing in the sand, and eating. Adalyn actually cooperated and slept the entire time in a bouncy seat or in the sling. I wanted to steal that bouncy because Addy doesn't really love hers.
I took the girls pj's and before we left, I dressed them for bed, so they could go to bed as soon as we got home #bestideaever
Sunday morning DJ got up and mowed the grass, and we decided that we would go to church. Because you know, we like to drive ourselves crazy and get five people dressed in one hour.
Somehow, we made it, but had no time to take pictures.
After church, we came home and Meggie was so whiny. It was driving both DJ and myself batty. We ended up getting Megan to bed, and because G started whining, she went to bed to. I spent nap time picking up the house, and running back and forth to get Addy to sleep. #itsgoodexercise
Once the girls were awake, I decided to pop some popcorn and treat them to a movie. Honestly, it was just my way of trying to keep my living room free of toys.
Addy did fall asleep in her bouncy seat today, and I had to capture her passed out.
And this is the scene of my living room while the girls watched their movie.
DJ surprised us all when he came home early this afternoon. I was able to get the rest of the house picked up and even cooked us dinner tonight.
After dinner, I was able to vacuum and mop and DJ snuggled with his girls.
It's been such a busy week, and I know this week is going to be just as busy! I'm tired just recapping the past week.
