Getting the Hang of it All

06.00

I must say that this past week, I've felt like i've gotten the hang of having three little girls! I'm starting to take pride in the little accomplishments and i'm slowly learning to not worry about the little things that aren't getting done. If I can get one load of laundry folded, then I consider the task a success! If I can get the laundry folded and another load in, well then, I might have well have just walked on the moon!

For the first few weeks, I was trying to get everything accomplished while still adding a few extras on my plate, and now i'm just joyful in those little moments of victory!

Here's how the past week has gone!
Meggie took a selfie with my camera phone.

On Thursday, the girls and I had a few errands to run. I needed to turn in some paperwork, we grabbed lunch, and then we went to Hobby Lobby.

It may have took me two hours to still get out of the house, but we got out and everyone was dressed! I may not have showered (because I showered the night before) but it was a success!

While we were trying to get ready to leave, I sent the big girls in to their bathroom to brush their teeth. I finally went back about 15 minutes later (to change Adalyn's clothes) and discovered the bathroom sink overflowing with water, stuffed with toilet paper, and dripping all over the bathroom floor! (Thanks Megan Claire!)

Luckily, there was no damage to anything, the mess was cleaned up, and we went on our way.

Addy was a trooper and waited to eat until we got home, and Megan took her nap while G played on the computer.
That afternoon, Megan wanted her picture made with Adalyn.

That evening, we had a family staff dinner at our head coaches house, and we all arrived in one piece- mostly because we pulled over to feed Addy before we arrived.

DJ won "Father of the Year" while we were out there! I saw him at one point holding Addy while pushing G and her friend on the tire swing! He also prepared everyone's plate so we could eat... I just felt so blessed that DJ was so helpful and that he was spending fun time with the girls and thinking of all of his girls needs before I could even point them out.

Husband of the Year.
We got home around 9, and put the big girls in bed, and I snuggled with Addy trying to get her to sleep.

Friday morning, MC dug in my purse and found my lipstick. She's so proud of herself... crooked smile and all!
Addy turned 4 weeks old on August 2nd!

Friday evening was not a good night with Addy... thankfully DJ stepped in and helped out even though he had put in a super long day at football. Thanks again babe!
Saturday morning, the girls and I had plans to go back to our head coaches house for a wife get together. They were throwing a little diaper shower for Addy and we had planned to go swimming. Well, it was totally washed out as it poured down rain Saturday morning!

But, the girls had fun playing inside, and because they didn't get to wear their swimsuits, I got to dress them in their matching chevron dresses!

After the shower, we came home and I fixed the girls lunch and then Megan, Addy, and I all had two hour naps! Gretchen spent her nap time on the computer!
Since the girls hadn't seen DJ since Thursday night, and it wasn't looking like they'd see him anytime soon, we decided to have dinner at the office. I picked up McCalisters, and although I didn't want to run in and carry tons of food out with all three girls I managed to get everything carried out to the car, with no spills, and with us all in one piece.
Meggie found this baby in our toy bag that we leave in DJ's office, and she insisted on bringing home yet another baby! She's such a little mommy!

We went to Target, and made it home around 8. The girls shared a cupcake while I carried everything in from the car, and got Addy changed in her pj's. I put MC to bed, and let G write a song... all day Saturday, she was singing songs about God and saying that she was a song writer. She also told me that she needed a real guitar with real guitar strings. After she sang me another song about God, she went to bed, and I was finally able to pick up the house and unload the groceries from our Target trip! DJ made it home around 9:30 and I was shocked that he was home before 10! Super dad carried out some trash and even finished unloading and loading the dishwasher for me while I fed Addy again.

I think the two hour nap earlier in the day gave me enough energy for the chores of the evening and to even have patience putting Addy to bed (and getting up with her in the middle of the night earlier than she usually wakes!)

I had thought about taking the girls to church on Sunday, by myself, but the weather said that we would wake up to more pouring down rain, and I just decided it was too difficult to get everyone dressed and then to their respective classes in the rain.

Instead, I picked up the house and caught up on a little laundry and even managed to get some sewing finished!

It's the little things that count, and i'm finally learning to count those as successes rather than seeing things as a failure. It's about time I learn that lesson!
