I picked the girls up from school last Friday afternoon so we could head to Fayetteville! I had been looking forward to this game for the entire season, and it was finally here! The girls did great on the drive over, and we ate dinner at Marketplace Grill before checking into our hotel. It turns out that I had a college friend, who lived just a few minutes from where we were staying so she and her oldest son met us for ice cream! It was so good to see her and catch up; she's always been such a happy person.
DJ's mom also drove over Friday evening, so after tucking the girls into bed, the grown ups had a drink and talked. It was so nice to see her!
MC did horrible sleeping that night, and she woke us all up around 4:30 in the morning! About two hours later she finally fell back to sleep!
Kickoff was at 11:21, so we had to get up early to get ready for the game. Thankfully, parking was relatively easy, and we just had to pick up our tickets at will call.
My parents, cousin, and her kid's also came up for the game. They met us there right before kick off, but I snapped these pictures while we were waiting on them. MC found a rock and was very proud to show it off!
The temperature was perfect for the game, although it was a little cold in the shade. Thankfully, we didn't have that problem once we got inside.
I tried to get a picture of the girls & I before the game, but I was the only one that wanted to cooperate!
My parents are not huge Razorback fans, but they still had to show their Arkansas pride. My stepdad wore a Razorback hat along with his Tulsa shirt, and my mom wore white so she could be "neutral". Although, they did cheer on the Hurricane throughout the entire game!
Here's both mascots before the game. I asked G if she wanted to have her picture taken with them, but she refused, so it looks like she'll have to wait a little longer to go to Disneyland!
I was dreading having MC in the stands, especially since she didn't sleep well the night before, and the game was in the middle of nap time. All she wanted to do was climb!
Here's the Arkansas band taking the field.
G only wanted to be with her Gee during the first part of the game. She absolutely refused to have her picture taken! Thankfully, she warmed up to everyone a bit more after she had lunch.
And, TU's team captains taking the field for the coin toss.
And, here comes the Golden Hurricane.
I absolutely love that our team huddles together after they come out and pray before the game. We have such a God-centered staff, and it really shows.
For some reason, I was totally surprised to find DJ on the field. I shouldn't have been- it's his job! But, I got this picture of him shooting the players for highlight video footage.
TU was so close to scoring a touchdown during this drive of the game!
MC enjoyed hanging out with her Nana.
G put these pompoms together and gave my mom "Tulsa hair"..... she is such a goofball! (G that is.)
So, then G had a turn with "Tulsa hair" and I had a turn as well, but we just didn't get that on camera!
G was begging for cotton candy, so my stepdad finally broke down and bought her some. She insisted on eating it straight off the stick!
We about died laughing seeing her face after eating her cotton candy!
Thankfully, MC ended up doing very well during the game. She was so tired, and I ended up bringing the bjorn carrier, and I'm so glad that I did! She stayed in it for a while, and eventually fell asleep. G just hung around and enjoyed being with her grandparents. Sadly, our Tulsa team did not beat the piggies on Saturday, but it was a wonderful Saturday and so great to be with family!
Here's a photo of all of us at the game:
