Snorkel, Snorkel

06.00

The next day we arrived in Cozumel! The skies were cloudy, but our spirits were sunny and looking forward to a day of snorkeling, dining, and shopping. But, let's take things one at a time, shall we?

Today's post is all about our snorkeling adventure. First, let me tell you that DJ and I went snorkeling in Cozumel on our cruise a few summers ago, and I hated it. Apart from the margarita's and the sun, it was pretty awful. My goggles didn't fit, salt water got in my eyes, we were drifting far away, and the guides were yelling at us to swim back toward the boat, because the current was pulling us too far away. So, there I was snorkeling for the first time, and I think I saw one fish total. And then I ended up with a rash on my legs. Perfect.

So, I wasn't too thrilled about going again, but I wanted to try it and my mom promised this would be a better adventure. When she and Libby took this same cruise right before DJ and I did, (and this trip as well) they met "Sexy Tiger", a snorkeling adventure guide with his own boat, own thong, and own tequila. They booked with him for all of $30.00 and had a marvelous time. We were determined to find Sexy Tiger or his equivalent this time around too.

So, here's our view before we actually got off the ship.
We didn't find Sexy Tiger, but we did find a company that allowed us to snorkel with them for about two hours for $35.00 with our own guide, a small boat full of other cruisers, and plenty of coke, water, and beer. Perfect.
We had to follow the guide through a shop then finally to a hotel where we boarded the boat. Here's a street in Cozumel right after we got off the boat. And, let me tell you, i'm officially jealous of anyone that lives near palm trees- they're beautiful.
Ok, so we were finally able to board the boat.....
Which, had two glass bottom compartments, so we were able to see the bottom of the ocean; fish, tires, and all, as we rode along.
 Goodbye cruise ships!
 Here's my mom and I:
And, Libby blowing up her life jacket. Literally.
 And Christine,
The boat captain took us to a coral reef area that was about 25 feet deep. I was all fitted in my snorkeling gear and a little nervous, okay, a lot nervous that I was going to be stung by a jelly fish (which I have a huge fear of), but I jumped in anyway. And, it was breathtaking. I saw fish and coral that I was unable to see the last time around. I could literally reach out and touch a fish. I didn't because my only thought was, I touch one of those fishies, and with my luck a giant jelly fish would come out of no where and give me the karma I deserved.

The next thing I knew, it was time to get back into the boat for our next reef visit.

Here's Chrissy, Christine, and Libby after snorkeling.
And my mom and Tiffany after snorkeling.
And my mom and I again.
And, here's our other boat passengers....
We were dropped off at another reef, and I was honestly more nervous the second time around. I had good luck the first time, that I couldn't believe that it was going to be that easy and beautiful again. I finally got rid of my nerves, and enjoyed the fish. Some of the coral was just amazingly shaped as well, and I just kept thinking how God created it. And felt as if I were invading it's space. I asked my grandma to take pictures of us snorkeling, but this was the only one I got. Bless her heart, for not being able to work a camera.
Here I am again, after snorkeling twice, and having a much better time! Pardon the other girls rear end in the background!
Stay tuned for the rest of our Cozumel adventure in tomorrow's post!
