New Orleans!

07.00

My mom and grandma, along with my mom's best friend, decided that their daughters & daughters in law needed to celebrate their 30th birthdays in style this year! They booked us a cruise out of New Orleans to visit Progresso and Cozumel!

We left on Sunday, July 8th at way too early in the morning! My mom was super excited about the long drive ahead though!
We picked up my sister in law, Tiffany, and off we went! She and I both turn 30,  29 and 1 year, in July.
I was able to enjoy the front seat for a while, but after our lunch stop in Jackson, I jumped in the back with my grandma, and I had never been more thankful for leg room!
As we were driving in downtown New Orleans, I came across this hotel sign:
DJ and I stayed at the Hotel Chateau Dupre when he and I went on our cruise a few years ago.

We finally made it to the hotel, and had a little bit of trouble operating the elevators and finding our room, but after cramming 7 women and just as many suitcases into the elevator, we finally found our rooms.
We got settled, and took off walking to the French Quarter, and if you've ever been to New Orleans, you know it will rain there (and flood) at the drop of the hat. So, we hid in a little store, while one brave soul ran and bought us panchos! Thanks Chrissy!

My grandma decided the pancho look wasn't her style, and since the rain made her hair flat, she bought this blinded out cowboy hat!
This is the corn stalk fence, from what i've heard there are only two in the world, and I think some rich guy made it for his wife a long time ago.
The Court of Two Sisters is another famous restaurant in New Orleans, but let's just be honest, we didn't eat there.
We tried to eat here though: But, we didn't because the line was out the door and the wait was going to be close to an hour or more. DJ and I did get a chance to eat here a few years ago and even though I was super sick that day, it was really good, and I'd recommend it.
So, we ended up eating here, The Oyster House, which is right down the road from there^, and I'd recommend this place too.
And, after dinner, we dropped off my grandma at the casino. Seriously.
And, my mom and I rode the trolley through the garden district.
And, while it was fun, I'd recommend just getting in your car and driving through it, so you can pull over and drool over the houses and architecture, or just get out and walk. The trolley was fun to ride though, I just didn't get to ooh and aah as much as I wanted.

Here's Emeril's restaurant, we didn't eat here either, but maybe next time.
Such a fun afternoon in New Orleans! And, a great way to kick off our birthday celebration!
