Welcome to our kitchen! The place where tea is sweet and the meals are mouth watering!
Ok, maybe not! I don't drink sweet tea, so I don't make it (totally against southern tradition) and my food, agh, I'm not the best cook, but I sure can order a mean pizza!
Here is our center island! I'm so glad that I have one of these again! We had an island in our Indiana house, and I loved it! We did everything there from setting up birthday party food, art projects, eating breakfast, and it served as a great place to collect our junk. I mean, mail.
This one is smaller though, so I try to not let it collect as many treasures. I do serve our food on it though, and use it to fix our lunches. I love that it has a drawer on the side closest to the table. I use it for MC's bibs, wash cloths, and our cloth napkins. They're all very conveniently located!
Sorry, that the sun got in the way of this picture, but here's our dining room table. It has a wood table, and black legs, and I love it! DJ did a great job convincing me to buy this one rather than the more formal table that I wanted.
We have solid granite counters in this house and I love them! I just use a homemade vinegar cleaner to wipe them down, and I love the pattern, because it doesn't show a lot of grime. Our previous house had black granite tile and it was always so dusty!
In this corner, I have two towering candy stands, complete with the fake apple and bread (and people seriously think that apple is real y'all!) Along with a giant martini glass for our real fruit, and sometimes I even make myself a martini in it and get wasted.
Yeah, not really! But, it is one of my favorite serving dishes for fruit, candy, whatevers!
In the corner by the sink, I have all of our medicine and vitamins. I guess i'm too lazy to pack it away, but I like that everything is at hand. I also have a towel holder, our soaps, and my kitchen aid. I love my husband forever for buying that for my 1st 29th birthday. (I'm celebrating my 2nd 29th birthday in just a few weeks!)
Back to the dining room, (sorry these are out of order), but as our table centerpiece I have two copper pear trays, with some fake pears in red, yellow, and green. I purchased these pear trays at Paul Michael's in Monroe, La. and I love them. If you live close to Monroe, you need to go there for any home decor stuff!
Here's a close up over by my kitchen sink. The dish towel holder was previously in the master bath, but we have real towel holders in there that even hang on the wall! So, I moved this to my kitchen, so my dish towels wouldn't just be laying on top of the counter tops (genius). I also put my soap on a small glass cake stand, to get them off the counter, as well as my trusty chapstick. I'm addicted y'all!
And, back over in the breakfast nook, you can see my wall display. I sincerely love my giant fork and spoon, that I bought at a Hobby Lobby clearance for about $5.00 each. Seriously.
The pear picture was a gift from my grandma's, again, purchased at Paul Michaels. The wall shelf was purchased from Hobby Lobby, and I bought the fake grass from a store in Jonesboro, Ar. when I lived there. And y'all, that grass is famous because I saw it once on a Days of Our Lives episode, and I had already owned it! Obviously, the designers on DoOL and I have the same taste!
By our garage door, I have a small pedestal table that holds an endless amount of nothing important. I placed a black napkin holder on top that holds our keys and sunglasses, because we don't use paper napkins, and I used a wreath stand as a bag holder. It's all right by the door, so I can easily grab everything I need as i'm walking out.
I have an old sewing stand on the other side of the kitchen with a butcher block top. On top is a bowl full of pears, and our candy jar. These match my dishes, and if you watch Rules of Engagement, you might have even seen the same decor in Audrey & Jeff's kitchen! Isn't it weird that I have things that have been on t.v.? The pear picture above came from Hobby Lobby.
On one side of my stove, is my block of knives, as well as my favorite cooking utensils, and a hot pad.
Here's a close up of the jar on my island. It's filled with coffee beans that smell amazing. I love the smell of coffee, but hate the taste, and around the bottom of the container i've hot glued jute. And, here's a tip, if you use coffee beans as an air freshener, put them in the fridge when they've lost their smell, and you'll get the smell back!
So, there's my kitchen! You're welcome to dinner any time. We usually eat around 5:30, so just call first to make sure i'm cooking..... or that DJ is!
